My Maytag dishwasher is 13 yrs old.The bi- metal thermal fuse blow,all the years was working properly. Now the components getting old and most critical the motor and the heat element producing inrush currents when they are cold so I installed a thermistor Ametherm AS32-10R 20 of 10 ohms in line with one leg of the heat element ,it can be between the thermostat or by the control board on the relayP3 terminal, the more resistance the element it will have starting the less current it will pull, and it will be less than 10 amps that the thermal fuse blows ,but when it warm up the thermistor it will be 0.2 ohms, and the HE woodwork properly heating up water or drying the dishes.

It fit perfectly and works in my Kitchenaid dishwasher.
I highly recommend testing your old overheat switch prior to ordering. Its easy, just remove it and test the resistance. It should be zero ohms.
