First time testing it right out of the box; The video quality was exactly how I expected it to be, HD about 720p level. I love how discreet the camera is. The camera is super tiny to the point that you don’t even know that it’s there. It also has a small cover to conceal it even more. The SD card slot is hidden well amd charges up pretty fast. The sound quality from the mic is super sensitive picks up sound really well. I definitely recommend this pen 🖊.

I used it for a working interview to see how I could do better for future interviews. I just put it on the little pocket I had on my Scrub top. The quality is pretty good for how small the camera is. The sound is good too.

The view angle of the camera is way too far up. The images are choppy. Pen falls apart. Avoid

Easy to set up, excellent.

So, I don’t have any real need for this product, but it was cheap and seemed like a fun device to have. It definitely outperforms what I expected, although I’m not a spy or anything like that so I don’t have a need for it to perform in any particular manner.

Some pros:

* Comes with a microsd card
* As far as I know, the storage space on the card is less of a limiting factor than the battery; I had this record a 3 minute video, and the output was ~380 MB. I’m still testing the battery, but if the claim of ~180m recording time on the battery is accurate (and remains accurate across battery usage for a while), then this is means the video recording on the 32GB card it comes with will consistently outlast the battery.
* Video quality is surprisingly good. A bit grainy, but I did not expect better
* Audio quality is decent as well, picks up plenty of what is going on around you

Some cons:

* Video field-of-view is weird / ‘small’ (I don’t know the technical term). The video looks like the camera is attempting to zoom in, and so you get a fairly small amount of horizontal space of what is in front of you (very little in the way of ‘peripheral vision’). I don’t have any exact measurements to quantify this, but basically if I am sitting at my desk, I can see a bunch of stuff around me in real life. This camera might just see my computer monitor that is about three or four feet in front of me. That said, I’m not a camera expert, and I suspect it might be physically impossible to do any better than this with such a tiny lens, unless they make something like a tiny fish-eye lens.
* Movement is a problem, if you plan on wearing this. You can definitely attach it to a pocket, but with the small field of view, and the fact that it’s so lightweight, it’s going to move around a bit unless you really secure it. It must take some practice to make sure that you’re getting things directly into the field of view on the camera as well, and could change if the pen shifts or if you decide to attach it to a different article of clothing. Probably not a problem if you just plan on having it sit stationary in a container with a bunch of other pens.

That said, for the price, I think this is a solid product. I definitely went in thinking this could potentially be an absolute piece of garbage that I wasted $30 on, but pleasantly surprised that wasn’t the case.
