I bought this computer twice. The first time, it was only charging to 79%, then it would say “79% (plugged in, not charging)”. I contacted ASUS customer support and spent so much time trying to figure out why it wasn’t charging to 100%. The whole problem was the stupid MyASUS app. It pops up when you first set up the computer, and it lets you pick a charging mode. I had it on the recommended setting, which only allows the battery to reach 80% (or 79%). I didn’t realize this until after I bought the new one and I was setting the new one up and I realized, that was my mistake. I’m still angry that the ASUS customer support didn’t realize that that was my whole issue. But it’s fine, I figured it out. It doesn’t have a touch screen, that’s why it says not rated for that. But other than all of my issues, it’s a really good computer. I’ve been using it for school and I’m happy with it, it loads everything quickly.

So far great system. Had a little issue because it came with French version of Windows 10. Have not had any other issues. It is fast, light, and looks nice.

Fast, quiet machine that never gets hot, rarely switches the fan on, and lasts 5-6 hours on a full charge, easily. I am a student and need to stop and work in the library and hallways, wherever. Pulling it out in class at a moment’s notice is never a problem. This boi is thin, lightweight, and wastes no time. The screen dwarfs the MacBook Air. Running a dozen or so tabs while studying is a cakewalk. I set Firefox as my default browser and Ecosia as my default search engine. I use a cheap, wireless USB mouse from Wal-Mart. Only drawbacks on this guy would be the frequent update notices from Windows. I think touch screens are extraneous and I don’t know if this is advertised as one, but it is not, in case you care. Also, I am not a gamer at all, and I seldom watch Netflix, so I cannot attest to its capabilities as an entertainment machine. All I know is I got this for ~$360 and I have shopped at Office Depot and found laptops with specs half as good, with cute little screens, for the same price or more.

I have had the upgraded Asus To this one and it was amazing. This one was $500 vs $1500 and it struggles with speed. Scrolling is very slow, touchpad is unresponsive at times and the battery life is appallingly bad. If you can afford a better computer, get it. Now I am having a problem with random locking of the computer as well the touch pad right click stopped working. Now ASUS says I have to spend hours doing a complete erase and reboot. Fun. I cannot say that I am pleased with this purchase. UPDATED: Sent for warranty repair. Took them 8 weeks and when I got the computer back, it would run for just a couple minutes and then I would get the blue screen. Now it’s my job to try to fix this with a rep on the phone. This has been a highly frustrating experience and I will question buying another ASUS based on this experience. After hours on the phone, I am going to return the unit for a second attempt at repairing. This is their standard procedure. ***UPDATED AGAIN: Computer returned to me after a 1 month wait and it still does not work. ASUS has agreed to replace with a refurbished unit which had a small defect when manufactured. This is normal procedure. So I am not getting a new unit but it has also not been owned previously. The warranty doe NOT get updated so whatever you have left on your original warranty, that’s all you get. If they send you a POS that does not work, you are stuck with it.

This product, without a touchscreen, runs very well, has good screen quality, and an overall “good feeling.” The one issue I run into often is me hitting the Caps Lock button inadvertently. The battery runs about two-plus hours, unlike my old Chromebook which was a wonderful seven hours. With all said, If your price range is below $400 and you desire a larger laptop screen and no need for an external keyboard, this is worth the money.

We bought this specifically to help with work from home during the Covid-19 quarantine. It has proven serviceable and was very affordable and I have no general complaints. The A12 processor handles all business apps and web work just fine. I have not tried to use it for gaming or development work, but would expect it to be sufficient if needed. I used to have a desktop powered by the A10 and I really like the A-series chips from AMD. They save you money and heat by not needing a separate video card while giving you generally better performance than most integrated video CPUs. My A10 desktop served me for five years and could play most games at moderate settings. I didn’t get this laptop for games, but I will update later if I try any out.

Two things it doesn’t have that my former laptop had are a backlit keyboard and a numeric keypad. The lack of a backlit keyboard is no problem, I won’t typically use this PC in low-light conditions. But I really like the 10 key number pad for business work. It doesn’t even have the solution some laptops without the keypad use, which is to have a set of keys simulate the numeric keypad when the alternate function button is depressed.

The monitor is OK. Perfectly serviceable for what I needed. My older laptop had a brighter and crisper look, but it was also more than 200 dollars more expensive.

The audio is a mixed bag. It plays sounds fine, and I can run Netflix on it just great. I don’t expect great sound from laptops but this one is ok. The microphone is another story. It works but on some video conferencing calls we noticed it would cut out. I have updated the sound drivers and we’ll give it another shot later. The integrated user-facing camera is also a little on the weak-side, but it does work.

I do very much like the form factor. It’s pretty light while still giving you a respectable 15.6 inch screen. It has a good array of USB ports and hookups.

So in the end, a good but not great laptop, with strengths being overall performance and form factor. It does miss a few extras, and the jury’s still out on the microphone.

Excellent laptop. Very impressed by the boot speed. The center of the keyboard flexes a bit while typing and the usb-c port does not support an hdmi splitter. Still like it a lot though.
