It seems that all these reusable type pods have their little quirks. With this stainless steel 2 pack I’ve noticed a couple things. First that the lid can be semi tough to open if you don’t have nails. Second that I’m occasionally still getting some grounds in my coffee. Not that bad but I’d obviously prefer no grounds.

They included a little plastic scooper for the grounds which helps though it’s tiny. It would’ve made more sense for the scoop to be enough to actually fill it instead of having to use many tiny scoops of coffee. They also included this little cleaning brush but it’s useless honestly.

When using this you want to make sure the little arrow on the lid faces forward. The cup does fit my Keurig correctly (not sure which one I have but included a photo). One thing I’m noticing that may become problematic is that the bottom needle of the keurig is making a dent in the bottom of the little metal cups mesh area. This concerns me as I don’t know why it’s happening or if it will eventually poke through. I gave this 4 stars because compared to other similar products I’ve tried it’s pretty good but as I said from the start…all these reusable cups leave something to be desired. Not as convenient as the single use ones and don’t seem to work as well (grounds in the coffee) but fact of the matter is that the keurigs weren’t designed with these in mind. 🤷‍♀️ I’m able to use coffee flavors that don’t come in K cups though which is nice.

I’m happy with these stainless steel K-Cups. I can fill them with my favorite coffee and not feel bad about throwing away plastic K-Cups. Several reviews mentioned difficulty removing the lid, but there is a trick to it. Just twist the lid as if it was a screw-on lid, and it will come right off. I do insert the K-Cup with the arrow facing forward, and then pull the K-Cup forward to line up the spikes in the coffee pot lid with the holes in the K-Cup lid. I knocked off one star because I do sometimes have to fuss with it a bit to line up the coffe pot spikes with the K-Cup holes.

I have found that the center hole injector is shorter than the last set I bought and they don’t make a consistent cup of coffee. Sometimes it comes out as almost clear water. I tried them because the garage disposal ate on of the other’s that came with the kit that included the machine adapter. Thought I could get away with buying only the cups and not the whole kit. Went back and reordered the original kit.

I tried this in a Keurig 2.0 system that I hacked to heck and back. So I don’t know if these will work with their security lock outs they have in stock machines. Made some mint tea and it flowed fine and had no sediment in the cup. The issue is when you try to take the k-cup out of the brewer. This might not be a surprise, but it’s super hot. And it stays hot for a good bit of time. I usually use a plastic version and you can just yank it out and clean it as soon as its done. This your going to have to wait a few minutes before you can go for it. Once you get it out it’s very easy to clean as the top comes complexly off. You just have to take your time getting the thing out.

The fact is, K-cups are expensive and waste plastic. The solution we were using up until currently was a big plastic replacement cup, which did work well but was in itself almost entirely plastic. It would get coffee stains on it, was a pain to clean, and every time we used it we had to remove the plastic insert in the Keurig machine to get it to fit.

This stainless still replacement pod has solved those problems for us. Only the top lid contains any plastic, no more worries about coffee stains and the cup itself looking dirty and old. Additionally, it is the same size as a k-cup, so I don’t have to pull the plastic k-cup holder out of the machine to use it. The lid is magnetic, which is a nice touch. So far all I’ve had to do after I’ve used it is pull off the lid and rinse it, dump the grounds into the trash, and then rinse the cup and it looks as good as new. It will need some deep cleaning eventually, but they also included a small brush to clean out the tiny mesh holes when I eventually need to do it. There was also a small coffee scoop to help you fill it without spilling coffee everywhere.

The only negative I have is that since the lid is solid plastic with a few holes, you have to finagle the pod around a bit in the machine to get the center hole in the lid to line up exactly with the puncture spike on the coffee maker so it will close correctly, and I’m still getting used to this. Usually I get it by the 2nd or 3rd attempt, but I’m reluctant to let guests use the replacement pod because I don’t want them accidentally breaking or dulling the puncture needle on the machine. Overall though, I am very happy with these replacement pods, and you get 2 of them!

Alright, coffee lovers, gather ’round! I recently decided to jump on the eco-friendly bandwagon to try the BENFUCHEN Stainless Steel Refillable K-Cups. Now, if you’re looking for a way to cut down on those pesky single-use pods while saving a bit of cash in the long run, this is a good way.

The build of these pods? Chef’s kiss! Super sleek stainless steel design, and it sports an impressively fine screen/mesh. At first glance, you might think it’s delicate, but it’s tougher than it looks. That mesh is the real MVP – making sure you get a smooth brew without any gritty surprises.

But there are two sides to every coin. There’s a bit of extra TLC involved with these. You’ve got to clean them out after each use, and it does take a moment more than just tossing a used plastic pod. So, for those of you who prioritize convenience in the AM, it might take a little getting used to.

Still, overall, my wallet appreciates the switch (since I’m not really a coffee person, but my wife and older kids are, so they mostly handle the extra clean up). If you’re considering making the change to help your budget and momma Earth, and you don’t mind the extra bit of effort, I say give these a shot. Your wallet, and the environment will thank you!
