I bought this renewed Latitude 3120 because I was looking for a laptop that could do more than just email and web browsing (I also use spreadsheet programs from time to time), have 8GB of memory and a 256GB solid state drive, and have a CPU and GPU, newer WiFi and Bluetooth standards, etc. that would be significant enough upgrades over my old laptop* to justify the price.

In addition to having all the features in the text of the item description, it was practically brand new, and it came with a new genuine Dell charger (which was not a given because of the disclaimer that says, “Accessories may not be original, but will be compatible and fully functional,” meaning the seller theoretically could have included a generic charger). This laptop came packed with the great care you might expect from an Amazon-approved seller–shrink-wrapped to a larger piece of cardboard to prevent it from moving around in the box, and a form-fitting piece of Styrofoam on top of that. There was no printed material in the package, but I wasn’t expecting that anyway, because Dell’s online support is great (notably, after I entered the service tag number from the bottom of my laptop, all sorts of updates came up; e.g., the drivers and the BIOS).

A few minor things I want to point out, though (obviously, none was a deal-breaker for me, but still things you may want to consider). First, it does not have a backlit keyboard (if I had to use it at night, though, I could make do with a USB LED lamp). Second, while the text in the item description states that the screen is an 11-inch _non_-touch screen, one of the pictures is inaccurate. That picture (the fourth one, as of the day I write this review) says the screen “supports touch/writing capability”. I’m guessing the seller left that in by mistake. There _are_ variants of the Latitude 3120 that have a touch screen, but I want to make it clear that this one does not. Third, while the item description doesn’t say what type of hinge this Latitude 3120 has, I want to clarify that this is a Latitude 3120 Clamshell (which has a regular 180-degree hinge, not the 360-degree on like the Latitude 3120 2-in-1 for Education has). Finally, this trackpad has no buttons above it–the trackpad itself _is_ a button–and it took some getting used to. If you’re one of those people who lives by those context menus that pop up whenever you right-click or right-drag something, you may want to connect a mouse.

Bottom line, this laptop exceeded my expectations. You can find laptops with 8GB of memory, a 256GB solid state drive, two USB ports and even an HDMI output port for $200, but chances are, what you’ll find will be from around 2017 or 2018 (meaning older technology; in particular, the memory is more likely to be DDR3 kind, rather than the faster DDR4 memory in the Latitude 3120). Likewise, you could search for laptops that are no more than two years old, but once you set that budget to $200, and you more than likely will end up with less memory and/or less storage. Getting a new laptop with _those specs_, for what I paid**–I’m happy I didn’t miss out.

*That “old laptop” is an HP EliteBook 8440p, which was built in 2010. I love its build quality and larger screen, but the
**I admit, I was one of the lucky people who bought this laptop before the price went up from $149.99 to $199.99. I still think it’s worthy of consideration at the higher price point.

I want to thank xStealth (the Amazon shopper who left the first review), because otherwise, I had that “too good to be true” feeling. I couldn’t agree more with the statement in that review: “… this little guy is a steal!”

Laptops were in great shape, great quality, and worked well. Had an issue that required interaction with customer service and they were fantastic to work with. Aaron responded promptly and resolved the issue quickly. Great to deal with…I recommend this seller and product.

Specs are nice at 11.6″ screen with decent SSD, and nice processing power (Intel Pentium). The computer has a solid feel. Not upgradable to Win 11, but also not easy to find an 11″ laptop with these specs for a reasonable price (got mine for about $200); so, overall, I’m happy.

When I ordered this, I thought there was no way I’d get the specs listed for $149.99. I looked on Dell’s website, and while a bit ridiculous, this setup currently goes for almost $750! As soon as I got it home, I booted it up and checked all the specs, and sure enough they’re all right! Looks as close to brand new as possible, too! I’d never pay $750 for it, but for $149.99, this little guy is a steal! For a 6W chip, the N6000 is a beast. Let’s not forget that this thing has 8GB RAM in dual channel, whereas most laptops this size end up with 4GB in single channel. Trust me when I say there’s a huge performance difference in both CPU and GPU capabilities with the extra memory throughput!

Edit Note: I have a machine with 4GB (single channel) and an N5000, and this thing has a 35-70% performance uplift depending on the application. Absolutely bonkers. The graphics are also a step up over the Intel UHD 605, and works great for 3D games 10+ years old, or newer less demanding indie games (and a lot of emulation, of course!).

If I had one gripe, it would be that the screen isn’t the best. Viewing angles aren’t spectacular, but it looks nice straight on, and no light bleed that I’ve noticed. It’s also a shame they didn’t add a bigger screen, since the bezels are a bit on the large size. Either way, not enough of a con to ignore this machine. If you’re looking for something small to use as a work machine with a side of light gaming/emulation — this thing is for you.

My recommendation — pick one up before they sell out!

I needed to move from an older 11-inch MacBook Air to a windows laptop because I have some apps which olny run on Windows. I also wanted a similar sized laptop as the MacBook, and this little guy is perfect. I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks, but it’s taken everything I’ve put on just fine! Using it mostly for casual stuff, no games or anything. I happen to be blind so use special screen reader software, and this laptop has given me absolutely no trouble running it. Finally, I can’t say enough about SJ Computing! Laptop came extremely well packed, and was delivered on time. I contacted them with support questions on a weekend, yet they still were extremely quick to respond, even on a Sunday morning. Mark Rabinowitz’s review is extremely detailed, and everything he wrote is exactly true. If SJ Computing has any more in stock, I’d definitely say go for it if you want something small yet performs very nicely!
