I am updating my review. I wrote a good review, now I am. Updating to great!! I had the most expensive Dyson before this model. It was much more powerful, but sucked down on carpet and wouldn’t move! It also did not like high pile, and stopped. This Dyson is fabulous!!!! Save your money, don’t overspend, this is the best deal going.. and, it is lighter weight. Yahooooo

I was torn as whether or not to spend $ on a Dyson, after using a corded shark for 4 years. The Shark needed a replacement part that was $120, so I figured why not just buy a whole new vacuum. We live in NYC, so we were lucky enough to go to the Dyson testing store to see what we liked. I initially assumed we would just buy the latest model. But our apartment is under 1500 sq feet. I was still torn after the store. My partner said he was morally opposed to spending 1K on a vacuum. Luckily, a gal pal had an extra v7 at her pad and I asked her if we could use it. One time hands on at our apartment, and I was sold! The trigger button that I thought would annoy me didn’t bother me at all.
I immediately ordered the v8 and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. We really didn’t need all the extra bells and whistles of the newest model. Now, my floors are regularly clean, I use the upholstery attachment on our dark couch once a week, and it’s made my home feel like I’m living in paradise. Like legit upgrade for my mental health!! When there’s a mess of crumbs or a broken glass, it’s so easy to just grab it off the wall and clean straight away. Soooo lightweight, and so relieved not to have a clunky heavy corded vac. We also have a spiral staircase, and it does wonders there, as well as making it easy to clean our upstairs area. My only regret is that I didn’t get a Dyson sooner.

The primary reason I bought the Dyson V8 was for the hair screw attachment which works really well on upholstery and other cloth based furniture. Being a cat owner, this hair screw attachment is a godsend! My house is primarily wood floor with a few large area rugs in the living room/dining room. The Dyson V8 cleans medium/low pile rugs very well. Occasionally you might have to go over an area a few times but honestly nothing to really complain about in terms of suction.
As for the battery, as long as you have it set to the normal setting (left side) you should get around 25-30 minutes of run time using the main brush head and hair screw tool. The crevice tool/combination tool should get you up the 40 minutes advertised, maybe slightly less depending on how worn your battery is. Do NOT use MAX setting all the time. The MAX setting is intended for more stubborn particles and is only meant to be used for a very short duration. Using MAX will limit your overall battery usage to around 7 minutes or less.

We have a large Dyson that we frequently use, and I thought that was all we needed until we bought this vacuum. I haven’t taken our large Dyson out of the closet since- this one works hard while being incredibly easy to maneuver and carry around the house. The different attachments make it easy to use on stairs and in hard to reach places, plus the cordless feature means I can vacuum the entire downstairs without unplugging and plugging in again. The simplicity of design and ease of use make this a vacuum I’d highly recommend.

We had a Dyson V8 Animal that we purchased years ago and liked because it is easy to use & lightweight. We own a rental house in the Outer Banks of NC that we used the Dyson V8 Animal to get underneath beds and tables and would bring it back & forth from our permanent residence to the Outer Banks. Since Amazon had the Prime Days Sales and the Dyson V8 was on sale, I decided to purchase it and keep it at our vacation house. I absolutely love it better than the V8 Animal. Although it is a little heavier, it is much more powerful on the regular setting than the V8 Animal on the Max setting. It is easy to use and I will keep it at our vacation house.

I loved this so much I made my 78 year old mother buy one. It’s very lightweight and comes apart easily. I installed it in the wall in my garage which works for me. The suction is powerful; I caught a fly with it. It’s very intuitive to take apart which is why I encouraged my mom to get one. She has a Shark that is heavy, corded and she needs to read the instructions every time she wants to use an attachment. She will not have that problem with this. I’m very happy with it.

Four stars because you have to hold down a button to vacuum. I’ve been waiting to buy another Dyson as I had to leave my old one behind in a move. Was missing that amazing thoroughness from Dyson – catches every little piece needing to be vacuumed.
It’s a beautiful vacuum and filter emptying is easy, it’s lightweight to move around the house with. I just can’t believe I have to hold a button the entire usage time to make the unit work. As someone with hand/wrist issues this is pretty disappointing.

Works well for dog hair.

I was a little worried about the small motor and if it’d be capable of cleaning my little apartment. But man it really works great, even all the little attachments which I tested out thoroughly. The mounting system and cleaning out the device is super easy and well thought out. The one draw back I’d see to this is, you do have to constantly hold the trigger down to vacuum. There’s no lock for it. But I just got this for my little apartment and it’s perfect for that. Battery lasts about 10 minutes on max power, probably 15 ish on normal power, so not a lot of time, but more than enough for my needs. Charges pretty quick too. Overall, I was a bit worried, but totally satisfied when i finally got to try this baby out. 🙂

We would like to see the battery last substantially longer than it does.
