I had been using the Foodsaver mason jar vacuum attachments with a manual hand pump. This electric vacuum pump machine is a great improvement and makes the process of sealing jars easy.

What’s in the box: The device comes in compact, minimalist-modern packaging that reminds me of the packaging of my Ember electric heated mug. It includes: detailed instructions in surprisingly good English, one ~3 foot USB-C to USB-C charging cable (you will need to use your own power adapter), 6 regular mouth lids and 6 wide mouth lids, and the vacuum pump device itself. The top of the device is protected by a foam insert and a removable clear sticker. As you can see in the photos, the top disply is smooth plastic – the type that’s a magnet for dust and fingerprints! The rest of the device is matte plastic and subtly textured to provide a grip.

Operation: Firmly fit the device over the jar’s lid (do not have the collar attached to the jar!) so that it’s all the way inside the bottom cavity. Tap the power button and a quiet motor engages to create the vacuum; the display shows the time elapsed in seconds (see photo). Press the power button again to stop the pump – the device will release its hold (air-pressure normalization) and can be easily taken off the jar.

The last photo shows the size of the device compared to a pint mason jar and a 4 oz jar, which took about 15 seconds for the pump to seal. A 40-second duration produced a tight seal on the pint jar. I use a plastic Brix JarKey to release the vacuum seal (use minimal pressure and go slowly so you don’t break the JarKey).

A long-press of the power button shows the % battery life remaining (see photo), a useful feature that will help me know when I need to recharge the device before it runs completely out of power. I tested the pump on two regular mouth jars. When I removed the regular mouth adapter (see photo) and checked the battery life after sealing the pint jar, the percentage had decreased: the device is smart enough to calculate the remaining power based on the size of the lid. This is an unexpectedly cool feature!

The top display includes a green light near the battery percent when the device is plugged in and charging. You’ll need a cable with one end that is USB-C, but the other end that goes into your power adapter can be anything you want, such as a regular-sized USB. The instructions recommend a 5V/1A power adapter, but I used my tablet’s 5V/2.5A power adapter to top off the charge (the device came ~60% charged). The green light turned off after the built-in battery reached its maximum charge

I always put off getting a mason jar vacuum sealer because of all the parts involved and I didn’t have a food vacuum sealer to begin with. I was very curious when I saw this available because it’s just one piece. It’s actually amazing. It easily fits over standard-size large and small mason jar lids. I love that there are no other parts needed and you can see and hear the tension building as it sucks the air from the jar. You know when it’s done when the tone stays uniform. You get a super tight seal every time. It’s very easy to put on and take off. I also like that it’s easily rechargeable with a USB cord charger, and it even comes with extra small and large lids! This vacuum sealer is really cool. I’m glad I got it and now I can keep my stored food fresh.

I do a lot of canning. A LOT of canning. All of the things that I can are processed in a water bath, so up until the time we need them, they are vacuum sealed. Once opened, however, most things need to be eaten quickly before they spoil, due to the lack of preservatives. Sometimes, we forget and things get pushed to the back of the refrigerator and grow a fur coat, then are tossed. I hate wasting food, so when I saw this device I thought I would give it a try. Well, it was worth it. This jar sealer is so easy to use. You put whatever you want sealed in a Mason jar and make sure the rim is clean. Then, place a lid on the jar (you can use your own or the ones that come with the sealer. They both work). Place the sealer over the lid and press the button. After about a minute (more or less, depending on how much is in your jar) you turn it off and voila, your jar is sealed! I can imagine all kinds of ways you can use this, from re-sealing partially used jars to storing dry goods like rice and cereal. It comes with a USB cord to charge it and it takes up very little shelf space. I can see less food waste in my future with this device. I recommend it highly.

There’s a reason there’s a warning on laundry detergent pods not to eat them and I would love to see big obvious warnings on this not to use it for canning – both on the ad and in the booklet. This is NOT a canner, it’s a vacuum sealer. It sucks air out. That’s all it does. Please, please, please do not use this sealer thinking that it can can food, the risks are not worth it.

Now that I got that off my chest….

This is a great idea if you like to store food items in mason jars. To be honest, most things don’t usually get stored that way at our house but when I went through my pantry I was surprised to see that I did have a few things in jars that would benefit from this. I ordered it for that reason. Among the items that were candidates for this sealer was a large jar of walnut pieces. I’ve always kept them in a mason jar but just hand tightened. Now they’re vacuum sealed and I’ll be able to seal them, reseal them, and hopefully keep them fresher, longer. I also keep sugar in storage in large mason jars, now vacuum sealed, and hopefully it will too will have it’s storage life extended.

I have to admit that I’m a little nervous with this thing (fear of jars imploding) but it’s new to me and I’m sure in time it will be nothing. I haven’t used it for anything wet and to be honest I doubt I ever will. I really believe the value here is extending the life of vacuum sealed dry goods or even things like beef jerky.

Having pointed out the benefits for us, I’m also a bit of a realist and I’m not sure how I feel about having to buy lids for this to use it as a routine storage option, for example, with leftovers. Like everything else these days lids have gone up in price over the past few years and as someone who does a lot of canning in the fall, if it comes down to it I’m going to use my lids for canning and go with alternative storage solutions for day to day food / fridge storage, like tupperware or even recycled margarine containers.

In the end, this is a handy little gizmo if it’s used properly and safely, on the right things. For me it’s almost a “special occasion” item and while it won’t replace my normal daily food storage containers, it’s nice to have.

I am thrilled with my purchase of the electric Mason jar vacuum sealing machine! This product is a game-changer. Its compact size is incredibly convenient, and the fact that it can fully vacuum-seal Mason jars in just 30 seconds is nothing short of impressive.

Not only does it save me time in the kitchen, but it also ensures that my preserved foods stay fresh for longer periods. I love the versatility it offers, allowing me to preserve a wide range of items from homemade jams to pickled vegetables with ease.

The build quality is exceptional, and it’s user-friendly, making it a must-have addition to any kitchen. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. It’s efficient, innovative, and has added a new level of convenience to my food preservation routine. Highly recommend!

The electric mason jar vacuum sealer is so easy to use and very effective at preserving the material inside your Ball Jar. Without reading the enclosed instructions, I just placed a metal cover on top of a 32 oz regular size opening Ball Jar half filled with coffee beans, I pushed this vacuum sealer apparatus downward over this metal cover, I pushed the only button on the top of this sealer, I heard the suction motor turn on then a number was shown counting upwards in seconds the time of removing air inside the jar. After 60 seconds, I pushed the same top button and a different digital number was displayed as it switched from a seconds timer to percent of battery life left. I only used 3% of the battery per large jar half filled with one minute of usage. I completed the sealing of the jar by screwing on the outside ring on top of the mason jar. It comes with a USB C cord and it’s easy/quick to recharge this unit (you supply the power brick), I have used a large vacuum sealer using the compressible plastic bags in the past, but this mason jar sealer has three advantages: 1) it’s easier/quicker/lighter to use, 2) the jars are reusable/washable and 3) it doesn’t smash the material being preserved (example shredded cheese). I would highly recommend this mason jar sealer – it’s awesome.

With the exploding cost of groceries anything that will help your grocery budget go further is worth considering. Both fermentation and canning are strategies to make your food last longer. However, it is essential to bear in mind that air evacuation Is not the same as canning. Once the contents of the jar have been exposed to air, pathogens can enter so evacuation of the air will not stop the degradation of the food but it will slow it down.

This device is very simple to use. Just place the device over the jar with the lid on but the collar off, hit the button, give it about 40 seconds and you’re done. Just put the collar on and tighten. It works with both regular and wide mouth jars with the standard jar being the default setting. Simply rotate the base to remove the standard lid fitting to use the wide mouth function. I like that it stores as one piece so you don’t have to worry about losing essential parts for it to work.

It is surprisingly quiet in its operation. Sealing one 250 ml jar from a full charge brings the capacity down to 97% meaning that a full charge should last you a good while.

Unlike FoodSaver vacuum bag machines, there is no automatic shut off once the optimum vacuum is reached. Basically you are guessing based on how long it has been running. Nor is there any indication of the level of vacuum achieved. However, when opening you get that familiar popping sound from opening a store bought jar of jam so you have to assume it is performing the way it should.

Overall a very useful device and is recommended.

This is one great little gadget that is going to save us money in the long run.

There are always jars of something that we need to open but don’t use completely before the stuff inside starts to mould, even when we put the jars back into the fridge. This has made a difference. Removing the air (oxygen) increases the longevity of the foodstuff, typically homemade jams and salsas.
► The included lids are a nice touch.

It really is very easy to use. There’s only one thing that I need to do in order to ensure it can work properly: wipe the jar’s top rim and the lid so that there is nothing in between them. Once both of the surfaces are clean and this is slipped on and allowed to finish, the jar is sealed again. The silicone seal for both the small and regular-sized jars extends down far enough that it gets past the threads, so it can make a good seal.
👀 My only regret with this gadget is that it does not have a fitting that can be used on the older midsized jars.

Switching from a large, the default, to a small jar adapter is also a simple task. The adapter twists off, and when placed back on, it twists and locks into place.
► There is only one button to use the device.
► So far, it’s worked with the large and small jars for:
    Ͱ Ball
    Ͱ Dominion
    Ͱ Mason
    Ͱ Bernardin*

    * The Bernardin small decorative 250 ml jars. It’s as if the jar design with the decoration is right up close to the threads, which keeps the vacuum collar from making contact with the jar’s neck and sealing correctly.
🚩 I’ve included a picture showing two of the decorative styles of jars that this will not work on. Again, it’s not the fault of the machine; vacuum sealers don’t work on these either. It’s the shape and decorative aspect that interferes with the silicone seal.

Thankfully, the manufacturer used a USB-C connection (cable included) for charging the battery.

Once placed on the jar, pressing the button activates the vacuum. The LED display shows a count up to 200 as it works to pull air out of the jar. If needed, the process can be stopped by pressing the button again. Once stopped, the display shows battery capacity.
► When the vacuum has drawn out as much air as it can, the pump stops automatically.

While this is handier to have in the kitchen, tucked into a drawer, it does not work as fast as a vacuum sealer machine with an external attachment and hose system. I have no way of knowing how much mTORR (vacuum pressure measurement) it is capable of drawing the pressure down to, but once the cycle is complete, lid jars are very hard to pry off, just as if I were to take one of my wife’s homemade jam jars are try to open it.

Considering the price (as I write this review it’s selling for $39.99) and what it can do with simplicity, this is a good deal.
