I use it to make beef jerky. I do about 5lbs. of steak strips in 5-7 hours on high. I haven’t had any issues with it and it is easy to clean. The trays can be stacked 2 ways to increase/decrease the space between them.

I use this almost every day, my husband got it as a gift for me, but really for himself because he loves jerky. We have used two different kinds of steak eye of round and center round. we used multiple different seasonings and each time it comes out delicious next weekend. I will be using it to make vegetables and fruit. It makes very little noise. It has plenty of room and it’s extremely easy to use.

Instruction booklet (yes it came with one) says bananas take 7-8 hours but it took me over 24 hours to 11 bananas sliced which filled all 5 trays. I also had to crank the temp way up beyond what was recommended. The temp control is a simple knob with broad ranges. I have no idea if the knob is accurate.

I wish it had a digital temp readout and also a timer so I could set it to shut off after 8 hours. As is, you have to let it run all night and unplug it from the wall when done – there is no off switch.

The fan seems unnecessarily loud and rattly, and it just doesn’t seem to generate much air flow, although I have nothing to compare it with, so maybe that is by design.

I’ve done bananas and apple slices with it. I was going to make beef Jerky, but the lack of a reliable temp control makes me nervous. I will probably upgrade to a better dehydrator before I do meat.

Pros: This is a bare bones unit for a low price and it does dehydrate fruit and it’s easy to clean.

The machine is very nice. It works perfectly and I made chicken jerky for my dog. It was very easy. The trays are nice it’s easy to clean quiet. I had one like this years ago. And loved it and used it often. I have almost my culinary degree. My daughter is a personal chef. It arrived on time and it is good. I do like it a lot. I moved years ago so I didn’t have my dehydrator and I wasn’t sure I wanted to replace it but after getting it again I remember how much I missed it. It litterally pays for itself in a couple uses. Last year I bought dehydrator fruits as a gift. This machine I can make the fruits myself for presents. I cook for the police and fire department as gifts. This is chef quality product. Thank you. With my dog it cost like 11 dollars for a page of treats. I can get a whole tray of chicken for 15 dollars and have like 88 dollars of treats for that much. The savings is unreal. The quietness of the sound of the machine is perfect. It gives a white noise background which is very nice. I highly recommend. But there is no buzzer as far as I can see. The person using this divise will have to turn it off. You have the responsibility to turn off the machine after five or 6 hours. So it is for an adult.

I use this food dehydrator to make my own dried herbs and spices from my garden.
It is more energy efficient, and reliable with the temperature controls, than using my oven.

I suggest getting some wax paper and cutting it to the size of the dehydrator, to make clean-up easier.
Using wax paper on the trays also helps prevent contamination or bleed-over from all the items you’re dehydrating, and it’s a cheap alternative to buying filters.

    Overall, a great purchase!

This is my second unit in about 3 years. The mechanical parts still work. I just had to buy it for new racks. They get flimsy and crack after a while. I mainly use this for jerky and it works but takes a long time. I need to get a stainless steel one but haven’t decided to make the investment. Overall, you get your money’s worth out of it.

You know, for like 35 bucks, Its slightly bigger than what I was picturing, seems to work great. Its quiet, I did some bananas shortly after it arrived and doing the initial cleaning. My only complaint is the temperature selection is a series of ranges, but I knew that before I bought it, So its not a big deal. Its easy to use and gets the job done for a great price if you’re just staring out! I recommend.
