This is one of those small gadgets that makes a big difference in your life.
One of the least favorite things about owning a front load washer was how we always had to leave the door open after being done to let it dry out. Thee door was always in the way in our small laundry room.
Enter this handy little device that keeps the door propped open just enough to allow for things to dry out but keep it close to the main body of the washer and out of the way.
It’s small, sturdy, and pretty adjustable as well as magnetic. It comes with magnetic disks that stick on to a surface if it happens to be plastic.
That is where I ran into the one and only downfall of this product. The stock adhesive that comes on the metal disc is in a word – HORRIBLE – for sticking to plastic. I had to take some heavy duty double sided mounting tape I already had and cut a piece to fit the metal disc and then all was well.
If not for the poor adhesion to plastic on the metal discs this is a 5 star product all day long. Love it!

This works well and it’s a great idea to prevent the door from closing while you’re airing it out to avoid mildew. We use it after every time we run the washer now. It is smaller than I expected though.. it’s not a big deal because it just means that if you want the door more open, then you have to attach it closer to the door hinge.. but it still would have been nice to have it extend a little more.
My washing machine is metal but the door is not (or at least not magnetic), so it sticks solidly on the machine itself but not to the door side. It does come with a magnetic sticker that i could put on the door for it to attach to, but I didn’t bother – it still does its job just fine propping the door open.

Front-loading washers need to dry out after use. The washer we have is made to have the door swing shut, so you need something small and simple to prop the door open for maybe a day to let the moisture dissipate before you close it up until the next time you need to run the washer again.
This item is small, light, and very simple. It bends in the middle if you need it to. It comes with a magnet on both ends. It comes with separate small metal plates that you can attach to plastic areas if for some reason there isn’t a metal area you can stick this to. Just one end needs to find a metallic home. The other will just keep the door open. It doesn’t seem like it will scratch the paint off the metal, and will not crack the glass or the plastic on the door.
I purchased another item prior to this one. It was about 12 inches long and would bend this way and that. My wife hated it as it kept falling off because it was so long that the magnet couldn’t hold that contraption up for very long, or it would slip off the side. It didn’t stay around very long. She no longer yells when she goes out to close up the washer as the door is still propped open and everything has dried out nicely. Well, she does have to look and see if the neighbor’s cat has crawled in.

This front load washer door prop seems a lot smaller than I was expecting and the magnet strength seems a bit weak, too. Certainly does its job, but it seems like something I could purchase elsewhere for less. The plastic seems very high quality and the tension setting on the arm also seems sturdy. Overall, it feels okay, but I feel like an “improved” version will be arriving sooner rather than later.

What a great invention- I didn’t know this was a thing until I saw it! I get so frustrated with everyone always closing my front load washer before it dries. Anyone that has one will know that causes odor real quick! After taking the laundry out, if you remember to put this in place, it prevents the door from being closed- almost like a little reminder. It’s magnetic with a strong hold. Even comes with extra sticky magnets for even more hold. Great stocking stuffer too.

I never knew I needed this until my washer started smelling terrible. After it took me a whole day to get rid of the smell, I wanted to make sure it wouldn’t happen again. This is small and magnetic on both ends. It does come with sticky metal discs if you have a washer that isn’t metal. I do wish this had a way to swivel out of the way and it’s very stiff when adjusting, but it definitely keeps the door open.
