I really like the design and utility of this remote, but there are two things you should know. First, although it may sound like you can control both a soundbar and TV (in addition to an Apple TV device), it will only control one or the other (soundbar or TV), not both. In addition, no matter how hard we tried, we could not get the remote to control our soundbar, and the instructions are not very clear. After several attempts, we gave up. So we still have to use two remotes, one for the Apple TV and one for the sound bar.

Bought this because it would be easy for my wife to use the rewind, pause, etc, buttons. Instructions only exist for programming with a television. Television was easy to program. No instructions for programming with an Apple TV. Used Apple “learn remote” function to learn the remote. Could not get past the second button in the learn remote wizard. Message stated “that button is already in use”, despite it not being in use. Did factory reset of remote several times, re-programmed television set and when programming Apple TV, failed again at the same spot.Would not recommend, unusable with Apple TV 4K (2020 model).

Simple request – I wanted a remote for my Apple TV device because, as everyone on this page reading these reviews knows, the OEM Apple remote is goofy. I didn’t want a mini-half baked universal remote for my home theater/audio system – JUST a better controller for the Apple TV. Does my OEM Apple TV remote control my TV? NO. Why do I want that in another remote? I don’t…..I had hoped for an after market remote that would simply power up the Apple TV and let me control that device with greater ease than the OEM remote. I hit the power button on this “Function(less)” remote. Nothing happened. Then I read the directions. The power button is supposed to be for your TV. I don’t need a power button for my frigging TV – I have a 9.1.2 home theater set, don’t need a TV “power on button”.After messing with this remote, I’m sending it back. It’s a piece of junk in a goofy way apart from how the OEM Apple TV remote is goofy.I was asked by Amazon to rate this remote for a few features. The first requested rating was for “thickness”. I’ll give this remote 5 stars for being designed by some really “thick” engineers.
