replaced 7 y.o. laptop – I think the cost is high 590.00 for 1366×768 display resolution. 1920 X 1080 would be ideal. Has Windows 10 Home installed. I see reviews with Windows Pro installed – not a big deal breaker – Although – the product description on Amazon (upper page) has the 1366×768 noted – yet if you scroll down further to specs you will notice the 1920×1080 posted. Very confusing. Too late for a return. The sticker beneath laptop indicates model # 15-da0073 ms – Update 11/27/19 – warranty expired 11/25/19 – purchased 5/29/19 – you will not be able to upgrade to Windows 11 with this laptop

I paid $699 for this (marked at $1199) and it was the only laptop I found that had ALL the features I wanted, including TWO Hard Drives (512 GB SD and 2 TB HD), CD/DVD, Bluetooth, USB ports, etc. The seller delivered within 48 hours and all worked well. Also nice that this didn’t seem to be loaded down with “junk” software either.

Excellent computer, starts and stops very fast. Plenty of storage space. I use this machine to operate a food pantry and this one replaced two (2) other computers.

I thought buying this expensive HP laptop I’d find a reliable machine yet it has issues with the tough pad that are very annoying. I think HP can do better.

My old i3 with 4g ram is too slow. I love small netbooks but the performance pales to an iPad. I’m actually downgrading with this purchase since I own an i7 Dell XPS with 16g ram but that didn’t even last a year and cost me $2000!

But really the difference in performance between i5 and i7 is negligible. Not really worth the extra price for i7.

I bought this because it’s the cheapest i5 that I could find that is not a Dell. It feels solid but not entirely cheap like my Lenovo netbook. The keyboard is quite plasticy but doesn’t wobble. I hate the silver exterior and black interior which look awful but looks are not everything.

For one thing, this does not have the adaptive lighting like my Dell which is a relief. The XPS came with this annoying feature built into the video card and so it doesn’t matter if it’s off in the Windows options and why I didn’t bother sending the piece of junk back to Dell for repairs despite the hefty price tag.

For me, I prefer 13in screen or smaller and so this laptop feels quite big to me and feels more like a 17in rather than a 15in. But still, you sacrifice portability for larger screen size.

One thing I did not like is the number pad on the right which took up room for what could have been a full-sized keyboard. Because of this useless number pad, the keys feel more crammed than most 15in and in some way feels more crammed than my netbook. Also those very useful arrow keys on the right are no longer there because of the number pad.

This is best bang for the buck without having to spend 700 or more for similar competition.

As my first laptop, it is great having the portability. Its a little heavy on the lap after a half hour. The vent is down below, doesn’t get hot anywhere, even when on a blanket. The screen and pictures are clear and crisp, the battery life I can live with but it really is done after around 5 hours. I don’t do games or videos on mine, not sure what the difference would be. I’m also new to the windows 10 so that is confusing me a bit, but not sure if the confusion is with the machine or the windows 10. It seems to be a bit slow going between programs but again, I think its faster when I’m using an “app”, I’m used to a menu and lists to chose from. Haven’t tried the dvd yet, only had it a month.

I am happy with this purchase. Laptops are so expensive now for what you need. I needed a basic laptop to run The Sims and do minor typing and surfing of the web. This laptop (which I’m writing this review on) does great. It’s fast, comfortable to use and sleek. I like how light it is compared to my older one too. I’m pleased with this purchase. Hope it lasts 10 years like my old laptop!

The product really looks beautiful (even more than the picture) with the nice silver finish. The performance is good for a core i5, gets to the start screen within 5 seconds. Love that it’s a 265 SSD with a backup 1TB HDD.
Had to install a synaptic touchpad driver as the default didn’t come with the finger gestures.
From time to time there’s a little pop sound (from the speakers I believe) when I close the lid & something else I can’t remember at the moment.

Had it for a week now and I’m really happy with the buy. I’d give an update If anything disturbing comes up.
