Love it
stan caveat emptor –
This is my second HP Chromebook. It’s supposed to have about twelve hours plus of battery life. I charged it as recommended but, three hours of use is UNACCEPTABLE! I trusted HP but, this shakes my faith in this company’s reputation. I have gotten nowhere with getting help and that only adds to my frustration. They are capable of better products than what I’m experiencing. DISAPPOINTED.

Chromebooks are simple and easy to use and are esp. good for those who are basic computer users. Surf the internet, check emails, social media and the like. No worries about viruses and such because it is has a closed-end operating system. This current one has an end of life date of 8 yrs wherein automatic updates will continue for 8 yrs. After that, you can buy a new one or update manually. The screen is large and the font is adjustable. The sound quality is passable for those who just want to hear the audio and are not an audio expert. The keyboard is off center, so a lot of folks may need to adjust their finger/hand placement when typing. Otherwise, this is a great deal.

The screen is totally washed out and faded. It works fine but the screen gets me everytime – all colors are washed out with a blue tint. Otherwise, it has handled being hooked up to an external monitor and speakers, extra USB hub. I used it as an interim computer so I was doing tons of computer searching, emails, and a bit of a 5D planning website that I use for work. It kept up well.

Started up with ease and runs great over my fast wifi. Not too heavy like my laptop. I love Google Suite and it’s easy to use format. Now I can store my personal items and backup work item somewhere.

The Chromebook works OK. The keyboard is not so good. The characters are hard to see and there is no search key.
But what is really bad is HP response to a question. I want to use a mouse, and I need to disable the touchpad, (which makes the screen go crazy when I type with hands resting on the computer). Disabling the touchpad is easy on Windows machines. But the HP Chromebook gives confusing, and maybe impossible, procedures for doing it. A very nice Amazon helper could not tell me how to disable it, but she did put me in touch with HP support. The SOB at HP demanded $49 to tell me what I had to do. I view the HP response as outrageous for a newly purchased computer. The instructions say to use a search key as part of disabling the touchpad, but there isn’t a marked key. So if you are a conventional touch typist and don’t want the touchpad to make the screen go crazy, buy something else. My solution was to cover the touchscreen with four layers of cardboard. Ugly as sin, but it works.
BOO to HP. Two cheers for Amazon.
