Unit as described, confirmed all the specs (CPU/screen/memory), everything works. Works with the cheapest docking station 40AJ0135US I could find (multiple monitors, external kbrd/mouse, audio). After installing Windows and running all the updates (including firmware) I replaced main SDD with 1Tb SDD and added second 512Gb SDD (@ WWAN slot), installed Mint, everything works without a hitch so far. Does have backlit keyboard (even though the seller said they cannot guarantee one). 10/10

    Only slight cosmetic wearing.

Fast enough for web browsing and office use.

Battery life is still good, about 90% of the design capacity.

    Plus to the Fingerprint unlock.

This is my first personal laptop in several years but had a business ThinkPad in the past. I installed Ubuntu with no issues and left Windows on it so it is dual boot if I would ever want to use Windows. I was concerned about battery life on a used laptop and this one is adequate – about 7 hrs on a full charge. Had a problem yesterday, however, where a “not charging” message appeared. I unplugged & re-plugged it acouple of times and it did start charging again. Something to watch. The physical condition of the machine is like new. I’m happy with what I received for the price.

I was skepitical about buying a refurbished laptop but am so glad I did. I received a what looks and feels like a brand new high end business computer for $300.00. Brand new power supply, great battery life and am so impressed !
Thank you for such a great deal 🙂

I charged the laptop for over six hours to get a full charge. I got about 15 minutes of use before the battery died. The large internal battery is also not holding a charge. I charged it up fully last night, and today it tells me that it is only 47% (the internal battery) and as I said, the external battery only lasts for 15 minutes. The seller wanted my address for shipping and then told me they would have to wait to see if the battery was available. Do the right thing and send me a working battery.

I got it yesterday—no malware, no scratches, no shiny spots. The only giveaway that the laptop isn’t brand new is that I can feel some rough spots when I run my finger along the sharp edge of the top, and the Intel sticker has lost some of its sheen. All the ports are clean. As a bonus, the laptop has several add-ons not listed, like a lighted keyboard, an SD card reader, and a SIM card slot. The charger is also made by Lenovo.

One of the reasons I chose the T480s over the T480 was that it has only one battery to replace if needed, but the battery life seems good so far. I’m happy with my purchase!

Update – The internal battery was showing as “not detected” so since T480s are easily user serviceable I decided to open it up to see what was wrong. Unfortunately one of the screws holding the laptop together appears to have been intentionally stripped with a drill, making it impossible to open the bottom of the laptop. The screw has a perfect shiny cone in the center of it instead of the usual phillips head cross with no torn or bent metal at all, which means that this screw was intentionally stripped/drilled to make the case impossible to open. I will update this review again once I get the screw out, since now I’m very suspicious why the internal battery would not be detected and the screw stripped to make it impossible to check or replace the internal battery (or any other internal component like memory, SSD, network card, WLAN card, etc.

I got the laptop as expected. A couple things were strange, and one of them caused me to remove one star.

The worst item was the OS installation was not “clean”. It had a very strange install already running, and the laptop had been shut down in “sleep” mode after the quality control check so the battery was at zero (not good for the battery) and it already had windows installed and configured with a generic user “Lenovo” but none of the lenovo drivers installed. Fixing this with an OS reset took a bit over an hour for the reset and then I could start configuring it as a clean OS installation. This was strange enough to lose 1 star in the overall rating.
Other slightly strange issues, some good some bad some just weird.
Good: It wasn’t advertised but this came with a touchscreen.
Good/Bad: It wasn’t advertised but the external battery was an extended capacity model with the bulged bottom. Some people might appreciate this, some might not. It does add weight and a bump on the bottom.
Weird: All of the “Lenovo” markings on the laptop had been peeled or scrubbed off. The “T480” and “thinkpad” logos were still there, but “Lenovo” markings were clearly and incompletely removed.
Bad but “as advertised”: No keyboard backlighting. But it wasn’t advertised with backlit kb, so no star deduction.
Weird: They completely wiped down and cleaned the PC but left a lot of streak marks on the screen, bezel, and some cruft buildup along all of the screen borders at the bezel. I’m glad they cleaned it, slightly disappointed they didn’t really complete the job. Still, it was cleaned so I guess it’s just weird.
Weird: Some bios settings were not on defaults and it seemed like some of the settings were still set to how you’d expect it if this laptop was managed by a corporate IT department. The bios should have been reset to defaults and totally scrubbed of management settings and encryption keys. Not terribly hard to do it myself but it did take some time to go through and check everything once I realized it wasn’t reset to a factory clean state.
Good: The OS reset this pc option worked so the restore partition wasn’t damaged.
Bad: The OS reset restore partition was not a Lenovo image so none of the lenovo drivers were included, so I had to go back and find/download/install all of them to get full functionality of stuff like the dual batteries, trackpoint, etc.
Overall I’m happy with the laptop, although I haven’t had time to fully check battery capacity. Everything seems ok so far though. The nonstandard OS installation was the only real problem and that merely took time to fix.
