Seems to be decent quality and works as intended but thought it would be way bigger. It does say 4 cups however – so my mistake. Would have bought a different one if I had realized. If you are looking to make a bowl of popcorn for more than one person – this may not be the right item.

Pros: Love the savings of making my own moist and delicious popcorn with the oil of my choice. I like the color and feel of the bowl. No worries about glass breakage like with other thin glass microwave poppers. Bowl cleans up easily by hand or in dishwasher. Easier to store than an air popper or thin glass pitcher. Though the bowl may seem small, it pops enough corn for my husband and I to share and making more is no problem. Pretty excited about this purchase.

Cons: I didn’t expect the bowl to be so flimsy (you can’t add salt after popping by putting on the lid and shaking it up cuz the walls are not that stiff/firm and the lid doesn’t lock/snap on). Also, the directions say to use the lid to measure the kernels, but there are holes in the lid that they slip through. I prefer to use my own measure. But those issues are hardly concerns considering the pros. I recommend starting with less time so as not to burn and adding more to figure out the best time for your microwave. We pop about 5 Tbs with a tsp of coconut oil in 2 minutes & 10 seconds. We do not wait for the popping to slow much, but most of the kernels do pop. We get about the same amount of unpopped kernels as in a store-bought bag. Popcorn kernels are cheap; you can afford to experiment.

Husband loves to make his nightly popcorn in this bowl. It’s much more economical and less wasteful than bagged microwave popcorn. As a bonus, he can use whatever flavored seasonings he wants on the popcorn, or can melt some real butter and put that on the popcorn. It is easy to use and the popcorn tastes great! Takes a few batches to determine the optimal amount of kernels to put in the bowl to minimize the number of old maids.

I literally use this popper every single day. I buy the mushroom popcorn kernels and they are so tender and perfect. The lid lifts off with the larger popcorn. At the 30 second remainder point I take off the top and toss on a couple cubes of butter to melt during the final cook time. As others have said, the bowl gets very hot. I just grab with a dish towel. There are also some unpopped kernels but that is better than overcooking and burning.

I used smaller “ladyfinger” kernels and those did slip through the holes on the measuring cup cap. They are also a little dense – smaller kernels = more kernels and less volume when popping. I would not recommend using that variety for this cooking method.

I purchased this popper as part of my diet plan for a quick snack rather than purchasing another air popper. Using Wirecutter’s review link, I ordered the popper and was quite surprised well the popper worked and how much I like it. For a very …I mean *very quick* late night snack, two tablespoons of popping corn and 90 seconds on high in the microwave, I have a very appropriate amount to share with my wife. It the popcorn as good as the oil-based “Whirly-Pop”…nope… which we will still use for our weekly movie night, however, this popper works well and the pop corn is just fine. Added bonus, the popper folds flat and goes in a drawer. … I have started adding the smallest “touch” of canola oil (basically 2-3 drops…much less than a 1/4 teaspoon to the popping corn prior to mixing up which seems to make the popcorn a bit more crunchy….but it is probably not needed. Just a mind hack for me … 😉

I am quite pleased with this purchase and would recommend this product without reservation.

I only make popcorn for me so the small size is perfect. However, there is always a couple of tablespoons of unpopped corn. The top is hard to keep on so I just turn it upside down and that’s no problem. I need 2 minutes in my small microwave and burned the cover experimenting. I will be looking for another one that doesn’t leave so much unpopped corn. It’s silicone so it’s easy to clean and collapsible so that’s a plus.

Use a towel or ovenmit to remove from the microwave…it’s hot!

This makes a great small batch of popcorn, perfect for one person, and keeps me from eating way more than I need. I use about 2 tablespoons of Bob’s Red Mill yellow popcorn and maybe a quarter teaspoon of canola oil, and it turns out great.

If you’re a popcorn lover this is for you! My husband and I love it and use it 3-4 times a week. Easy to use…a bit hot when removing from the microwave…cleans up nicely. Cheaper than buying microwave popcorn!
