    Bought “second hand” but I was not worried as that brand will survive us all. I have the insulated mug and I had no doubt I’d be happy with the rice cooker. Worked great, came bumped but fixed it and works like a charm. Steam option for bao is great. Small efficient, easy to clean, compact and reliable.

    The Zojirushi NHS-06 3-Cup Rice Cooker, White (-WB) delivers on its promise of perfectly cooked rice every time. Its simplicity in design and use makes it a great addition to any kitchen. While it excels in cooking rice to the right texture, it lacks a warm feature. So, if you don’t mind your rice not staying warm post-cooking, this rice cooker is an excellent choice at a very reasonable price.

    Great value. Cooks rice perfectly. If you cook only one cup you may need to stir the rice half way through, otherwise no issues. No frills, it just cooks a great pot of rice pretty quickly (15 to 20 minutes). My other more expensive cooker took twice as long. Shuts off when done cooking, no keep warm function. My only complaint is that the water level marks are tough to see.

    It just cooks rice. No computers, timers, LCDs, etc. Just one simple switch. Seems to be built to last. Cooks fast. Easy to clean.

    I finally replaced an over 20 year old rice cooker with this one, which is the smallest of the
    Zojirushi rice cookers. I love it and the best thing is the non-stick inner pot. Most people don’t need a bigger size unless you’re feeding a family of 8 or more, or want the steamer pan that comes with only the bigger models. This is plain, simple, and easy😊

    Two years later and still love this rice cooker. Used it 4x/week for the 9 months solid the guest teacher lived with us, and now much less frequently, but it has held up well and not let us down. Below is my original review which still stands.

    I’ve always made rice on the stove and hesitated to get another appliance to take up space on my counter. But we are host family for a year to a young woman from China and it was difficult for her to live without one given that she makes rice daily. We ordered this model based on Amazon reviews (thank you everyone for your valuable input!) and have been loving it this past week. On its maiden voyage I followed the directions to rinse the white rice and made 2 cups. I cut up a sweet potatoe into about 2″ wide slices and put them in the steamer for the full cooking time. Both the rice and s.p. were perfect. The skin was super easy to peel off the cooked s.p. and it was an easy, healthy, and tasty side dish that required no oil, salt, etc. that you usually use when cooking side veggies.

    After a few days of successful white rice I tried out brown. Equally easy and fast. I wasn’t sure how it could cook in the same amount of time but it did. I think I used a little extra water for the brown but am still experimenting. (follow up 2 years later – white and brown cooks equally well and I don’t vary the amount of water used, it just seems to know when it’s done 😉

    I have noticed that we cook a maximum of 3 measuring cups for our 3-4 person meals, and none of the prior posts about rice boiling over discuss quantity cooked. The brown bubbled a lot, but didn’t bubble over. It may be that people cooking for larger groups need a larger cooker, and if we were doing larger quantities we might have the bubbling over problem too, but with rinsing, and smaller quantities it has not been an issue. Also, the measuring “cup” that comes with it is not an exact cup, so some may want to experiment to figure out what the actual true “cup” measurements are for the cup provided and the lines inside the cooker.

    I love the glass lid because I can see what’s going on in there. It would be interesting to hear from others who are making veggies and other things like the person who makes a boiled egg using the steamer. Also, it puts out a lot of steam, so do be sure you’re not placing it right under a counter as you’ll probably end up with a nasty mess growing under your counter from the intense output of steam that happens mostly in the first half of cooking. Our cooker sits on a counter with lots of clearance above.

    This thing cooks perfect rice every time. I’ve used it for general meal prep, sushi rice, I’ve steamed veggies boiled eggs in the steam tray, it does a great job at everything! And as an added bonus, it is very easy to clean by hand and isn’t really messy at all.
