Several months ago my home office printer started telling me low ink, but I kept using it because I had always heard they force you to change it too soon. The prints were still coming out great so I decided to wait until they began to lighten. Another two months passed with perfect prints, but suddenly the printer locked me out and said no ink. I ordered a new cartridge on Amazon. While waiting for the cartridge to be delivered, i googled and found out how to bypass the printer lockout. Two more months later i am still using the old cartridge with perfect prints (i print on average about 300 pages per month). Don’t let Brother scam you too! Use all your ink before changing.

I have used the other brands before that say they are compatible, but they always give me trouble. This genuine brother brand works the best and lasts a long time, I work in an office printing all day and I only have to replace every 2-3 months.

After having so many issues with cheap toner and drum cartridges, I’ve decided I won’t be buying anything but genuine replacements. Currently using a cheap drum unit with the genuine toner and get the occasional blemish on my prints. I can tolerate that with what I use the printer for but it will nevertheless be the last non-genuine one I use.

I followed the instructions that came with it. The size is small but you have to use the adapter for it to fit in the printer. There were no leakage or defects. It’s not that expansive and the ink last me a long time without worrying. If you do what the guidelines is telling you, you will be able to change it with ease.

I bought my printer for a surprisingly reasonable price. I suspect the strategy is that they sell printers at a loss, then more than recoup revenue by marking up the price on their branded toner cartridges.
I had tried to avoid the high cost of branded toner by choosing non-OEM (non-Brother) toner cartridges, but didn’t have very good luck with them. Usually the print quality wasn’t very good– grey backgrounds, streaky coverage, chemical smells, etc. For the last one, I had to swap a little mini circuitboard/chip from a Brother cartridge into the generic one for it to work properly.
This time, I opened my wallet for this pricey, high-capacity Brother cartridge. The resulting print quality really is much better than the cheap ones. Alas.
If you’re having trouble with print quality, you might try a Brother toner cartridge just to see if it improves.
