Thank you Gigabyte for creating a 4080 Super that has no coil noise. I got the TUF and it was a mess. More expensive than this one and loud coil noise that you can hear over the sounds of the game.

To start, I sought a replacement for my Zotac 3080ti. With my transition to 1440p gaming and the noticeable noise, akin to a jet engine, emitted by my old card along with its coil whine, I opted for the 4080 Super. While the 7900XTX was tempting, reliability was important in my decision (feel free to criticize me for this but driver problems can occur on amd cards in general). Initially interested in the ASUS TUF Gaming version of the 4080 Super, I changed my decision after encountering numerous comments citing coil whine issues with ASUS 4xxx models (TUF and ROG Strix). Instead, I chose a card that not only boasted superior aesthetics but also featured an exceptionally functional design.
Positives:
– Remarkably quiet (a strong contrast to my deafening 3080ti)
– No coil whine (seemingly luck-based)
– Best design among the 4080 Super lineup
– Functional design (allowing airflow through empty spaces on the card’s back, with connectors positioned approximately 3 cm into the card, facilitating easier connections for smaller cases)
Negatives (for me :D):
One of the driving factors behind my purchase was the superior support bracket solution offered by gigabyte compared to other brands. Mounted discreetly on the motherboard, it’s barely visible from the front. Unfortunately, I failed to account for the bracket’s size in relation to my “Be Quiet Pure Base 500DX” case—it extends about 1 cm too far and would collide with the case, rendering it unusable. Instead, I resorted to an €8 “support screw” solution available on Amazon. It still looks amazing though.
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this card if it fits within your budget. Additionally, registering on the Gigabyte Aorus website grants an extra year of warranty, totaling 4 years. Should any issues such as coil whine arise in the future, I will update my review accordingly.
