After being very happy with the system for 10 months it failed. Initially I had some problems getting service but it turned out to be a misunderstanding in the company went out of its way to make up for the problem.

As soon as they understood what happened, the service rep they assigned kept me informed through the whole process. Their solution was to provide a new replacement unit.

You can’t get better service than that!

    Thank you Minisforum!

My son uses this PC for all sorts of gaming including Lethal Company, Roblox, Minecraft, Ace Combat, and much more. We had an issue with the power supply and customer service was highly responsive and replaced the unit right away free of cost. There is decent documentation online from users and great customer support, and overall I would recommend this company.

I read many reviews and did a lot of research over the past few months to find the perfect mini PC, and I eventually chose the Minisforum UM780 XTX. This machine is a real powerhouse, especially when it comes to 1080p gaming with medium graphics settings. It performs well with most games and can handle high settings for some. I got the 32 GB/1 TB model, and the manufacturer used well-known brands for the components, such as Crucial RAM and a Kingston SSD. However, this may vary depending on the hardware specifications.

The machine is easy to upgrade. You can simply pop off the top, unscrew the LED screen/SSD cooler, and you’re in. I chose to install the accompanying Oculink in my second SSD slot, which will allow me to upgrade to an eGPU setup later on for better graphics performance. I also plan to upgrade the RAM to the max of 96 GB to handle memory-intensive tasks like 3D modelling and creative software. I wish the manufacturer offered a bare-bones version on Amazon, which would have saved me some money and allowed me to select my own RAM and M.2 storage.

Although I haven’t tested the Oculink yet, everything else has performed well and matched the results from tech reviewers. I’m pretty happy with this little computer, which is much smaller and more compact than my old mid-tower PC. If you’re looking for a productivity computer that can handle some games, this is definitely worth considering. The only downside is deciding on the RAM and storage options.

Hardware highlights: Contains a Ryzen 7000-series APU with a integrated Radeon 680M (12 compute unites, RDNA2 = gaming capable), DDR5 memory and USB4 (yes, this can be used with an eGPU). Barebones kit comes with everything except the memory and m.2 nvme ssd (which are fairly inexpensive). I use this computer as a remote terminal (use an HDMI headless dongle), but it’s capable and low power for gaming or downloads. The USB4v1 offers 40Gbps transfers and can accept TB4 and TB3 eGPU’s. I built an eGPU based off the Wilkingoo eGPU adapter, a Acer Predator Radeon 7600 non-xt 8GB and Thermaltake 600w 80plus PSU. Stable and fast, and a small footprint. I would recommend!

this little PC is great, it’s fast, fit’s into small spaces. But you must update the BIOS when you receive it otherwise you my have some issues. Once I updated to ver-1.05, all operations smoothed out, it ran fine. Also you need to get all updates from Windows Update tool. Including the “Optional Updates” which are buried down inside “Advanced>Optional Updates” within the Window Update tool. I found a couple very important updates in there a few days after using my PC, ie: Bluetooth, Network, it solved an issue I was having with bluetooth not working upon rebooting. The MinisForum webiste support is very responsive, they respond quickly, and will continue with you until an issue is solved. Thanks MinisForum Support.

The spec’s were just what I wanted and the price competitive (there were cheaper) When I opened the package I was shocked. As you can see from the pictures the power supply looked used (no label). The ports were misaligned with glue all around the edges and a HDMI port bent. Returned it the next business day without ever turning it on. Had to wait three weeks with no refund before I could call Amazon who looked after the refund immediately but I was out almost a $1000.00 for the better part of a month. May be a one off but beware.

Purchased, the barebone version. Unit design and price are great. The few issues I ran into, was it doesn’t seem to support 2*32 memory 64GB dd5-5600 dim kits. Which hopefully the model up from this seems to support.

The other thing that is disappointing is that If they are going for performance and gaming entry product to a degree they systems haven’t been well test for upgrades and such. It would be nice to have that information up front regarding memory upgrade specs and other upgrades that user may consider at time of purchase, or down the road when they want to upgrade. Also the audio driver under windows are not reliable. Ran into issue with headphones not getting any sound from the machine audio jack. However plugging into monitor which goes over HDMI they work. Adding a usb sound card: headphone works. Under Linux the audio jack works. However windows 11 pro and clean new install setup. Some reason can’t get sound from my times tested apple/iPhone headphones. Which brings me to AMD and their drivers being an issue. Which am not sure whom to address to help with the issue. Cause from their website they just point the user to AMD. Over all AMD drivers seem to be buggy, even something as simple as open KJ karaoke software the singer window makes flashes and has re-draw issues, or blanks out. Which leads me to believe there is a sync and re-fresh/draw issue in the way it handles certain aspects of video libraries.

Quiet, fast and super low power PC that is about the same footprint as a stack of 4 old CD Cases! So far has run every game in my Steam library in at least medium and usually high-max settings! I mounted a secondary larger 2.5 inch SSD for storage inside the back cover. A couple of tips: 1) to remover the back where there is a 2.5 inch mounting area, the screws will be found behind two glued in small rubber plugs and the two larger triangular rubber covers. The small rubber plugs are easily removed and replaced. For the large triangular pads, simply peel back the corners until you can see the screw head (no need to remove the whole piece and re-glue). Take a careful note of the orientation of the cover once removed as it is perfectly square and could easily be incorrectly replaced 90 degrees out which will cause some issues with a snug fit once the secondary drive is in place. Be careful installing the flimsy SSD connector to the main system header – make sure you have good light so you can see clearly. I would also suggest using needle nose pliers to ensure you have a good fit. For mobile use, I have previously used an Alienware X15 R2 Laptop but this system not only outperforms it but even including a small keyboard, mouse and a portable 18 inch 1080P HDMI screen the total weight is still less than the old Laptop and 180W Power Supply!

This system has been running great since it arrived but today, May 1st 2023 it died in the middle of playing a Steam game. The PC did not seem to be overtaxed, or generating a lot of heat so I can only assume that hopefully it is just the power supply that has failed. The power supply brick now simply flashes green and the system will not power up 🙁 Have contacted the supplier for assistance will update when the issue is resolved. Based on other similar reports and after testing the power supply (delivering the correct 19V and ONLY flashes when connected to the PC) it seems the system itself has likely malfunctioned!

I been using Minsforum min PC (TH50 )to connect 3 Monitors(One is a 42″ 4K TV)and its like a workhorse and gave me excellent performance for 2 years now…I ordered this UM690 as an upgrade Mini PC, but unfortunately it seems to have a short circuit problem with all my USB A inputs with a continue buzzing sound that cannot be accepted.I have reset the software twice and still cannot solve the problem after 2 days work. I just have to abandon this UM690 but have to return it and looking for another models.Feeling sad.
