This worked well, but for the price point, you can get a faster AMD card for 100 bucks less. Nvidia famously has the 40XX, the 40xx TI, the 40XX Super, and the 40XX TI Super. Go figure. This card is slower than the AMD 7800XT for about 100 bucks more and much slower than the 7900XT for a comparable price. The AMD cards lag in Ray Tracing and a couple of other areas, but for raw game performance, I would recommend either of the two AMD cards over this. That said, I spent the extra hundred and got a Nvidia 4080 Super card. This is a considerably faster card than all the cards mentioned in this review. So, if you are on a budget, I would go AMD; if ray tracing matters, I would stick to Nvidia. If the money doesn’t matter, go Nvidia 4080. The 4090 currently sits around 2k, which is a ridiculous price for a video card.

According to the TomsHardware 2024 GPU benchmarks hierarchy list this GPU specs about the same as a RTX 4080 but also manages to be $400 less expensive.

I bought it mostly for VR games and it runs the following games on either high or ultra settings like a champ
    -Alyx
    -Microsoft Flight Simulator
    -No Man’s Sky
    -Dirt Rally 2
    -Star Wars: Squadrons

    Runs immaculate in non-VR too
    -Red Dead Redemption 2
    -Cyberpunk 2077

No issues with this GPU, great stuff!

I ended up picking this up cause I didn’t want too spend $1200-$2000 on either the 4080/4090. And I am very happy too see a very steady 240-250 fps on 1080p (you want low latency and speed in games like this.) in Warzone with extreme graphics on everything cranked up. It also runs new world in max graphics really smoothly as well didn’t check the fps might come back to change that! Not sure of many other games that are that demanding and needless to say it’s a great card for the price and will do any gaming you need with ease!

This card is great. I’m upgrading from a RTX 3060 12GB model and this is a big step up. I mostly play souls like games at 1440p so this is probably overkill for my needs but I can max out all the settings including ray tracing still getting at least 60 frames per second. Elden Ring ran at a nice 60 fps (the game is capped unless you mod it which I don’t) with no hiccups. Armored Core 6 will run about 110 frames per second, the game says it can go up to 120 but playing with the settings I’m convinced its a limitation of the games engine why it can’t hit the full 120. I play a ton of sekiro and I maxed out every setting graphically and the card never broke 60% and mostly at 45% capacity while going a smooth 60 fps (again its capped I wish this game would do 120 or more). I opened up God of War 1 cause it has a ton of graphics options just to play with it and I was able to max out pretty much everything and still get around 90 fps (this was not a thorough test so take this with a grain of salt). One thing I will mention is I did all of these tests without the video scaling option but when I do play casually I usually leave it at 85% (you can change this setting in the NVIDIA Gefore Experience desktop app). I cannot tell a difference between that and fully scaled. I mainly do this to save the card some wattage and keep temps cool.

The card runs very efficiently, at idle it can run in the single digits for wattage. It runs a similar wattage number (around 220 watts) when playing the game as my 3060 did. The difference is my 3060 was running everything at 1080p while the 4070 is at 1440p. Nvidia has put a lot of effort into the efficiency of their cards and it really shows. The card stays very cool, the highest I’ve seen it at is (i think) 64 degrees celcius playing the games described in the previous paragraph. The card pulls .9 volts stock (if thats something you care about). One thing about my cooling I will mention is I have put a lot of thought into my cooling set up by I’m running fans only and the front only has side vents (so its not like one of those airflow cases where the front is basically a mesh). I guess I’m bragging. But that being said if you have a good cooling solution already this card will complement it perfectly. Some reviewers mentioned coil whine in the fans but I have not heard a thing. The GPU fans run quiet and seem to do a great job of cooling the card.

As far as stuff outside of gaming the card has two separate video encoders so this might be good for streaming or video editing. I do a little bit of video editing so I’m excited to see how it performs (haven’t tried it yet). It has 16 GB of VRAM so it should perform solidly in most normal home editing rigs. The clock runs pretty fast but have only run the NVIDIA control panel overclock. I bet it would overclock nicely based on the numbers I’ve seen but I’m not brave enough to do that on a $800 card. The video upscaling feature is amazing and based on that alone I would recommend any of the 40 series cards from NVIDIA. If you use a chrome based browser (i use edge don’t laugh) then it can upscale video using its AI encoders. It does great. Its not perfect however but its still really good. I upscale from 1080p to 1440p and theres not much in terms of artifacts.

In short this card is pretty expensive but also really awesome. You get your moneys worth from this card. It runs efficient and you can max out almost everything at 1440p. The AI features are awesome. I really debated if this was worth the extra $200 from a regular 4070 super but now that I have it I don’t regret my purchase. This card comes with this loser on the internets recommdation!!!!!

Runs can be hot in high 80 degrees, but the card is so powerful. You got 60 fps on 4K native ultra setting in almost all games I play, especially helldivers 2.

What I dislike is the 16gb of ram and close to 1k price range. For productivity and Ml this is not enough yet expensive.
