When you open the box to this Razer Kiyo Camera you instantly feel the quality of the device. It is built similar to that of an SLR ( Camera ) lens. If you are familiar with interchangeable lens cameras like that of Nikon and Canon, this Razer Webcam reminds you have a 50mm Prime lens. Metal construction with minimal plastic. The camera comes attached with a very versatile stand, that also functions as a monitor mount and is threaded for use with a tripod, or desktop/microphone boom. See pictures for reference.
Installation was a breeze with windows 11. After installation I fired up OBS. If you are not familiar with OBS, you need to get familiar, it’s free and works brilliantly with the Razer Kiyo Pro for streaming/recording.

The camera produces fantastic images. They are so detailed that uploading here wouldn’t do it justice. You have to remember that it’s 4K that even videos here will be resized and won’t be a fair representation of the quality this produces. The video is buttery smooth and color representation is spot on and slightly warm out of the box. You can fine tune all of that in OBS or software of your choice. I will mention OBS again because it’s somewhat standard, free and works great with the Razer.

The large sensor really BLURS out the background of the images. This is SUPER nice when doing live streaming or video recording because the large aperture brings the subject ( most likely YOU ) into focus and your background with have a nice soft bokeh. Similar to that of a Digital SLR camera. Also, the audio quality is VERY good.

I think i’ve realized what this Webcam is like, it’s pretty much the webcam equivalent of a digital DSLR camera/lens combo with video function. IT’s the complete package and Razor did a fantastic job bringing this to market. 5 Stars all over the place here.

Look, I’m old enough to remember the days where webcams were absolute jokes. My first webcam was literally 240p and I looked so distorted that some people would think I was Michael Jackson. Especially with the codecs and bitrate offered up by these systems was just a total joke. Today, we have much better encoding and bitrate, but webcams are still in a very strange position. Built-in webcams are usually terrible, especially on mid-priced laptops, while PCs run the gamut from 3rd party 720p-1080p “HD” webcams to 8k monstrosities that cost thousands. These days, as more jobs are remote and communication relies more on video chats than ever before, having the right webcam can mean all the difference.

The Razer Kiyo is a professional webcam that doesn’t break the bank. I know Razer has a reputation for overpriced devices, but I found this was perfectly positioned based on the features and quality. To start off, the build quality is impeccable. The demure black color won’t draw the eye, so it’s prefect in any setting – who really wants to draw attention to a webcam anyway? There also aren’t any glowing logos or anything so this would work perfectly at the office. The hinge to hold the webcam onto your monitor is suitably stiff so even wobbly monitors shouldn’t be an issue. It also has Optical Image Stabilization, so even the sweatiest of gaming sessions shouldn’t ruin your perfect shot.

The Kiyo (Pro Ultra super deluxe ultimate, etc.) can do both 4k at 30fps, which is great for work/relax and 1080p at 60fps, which is better for any kind of action scenes like recording yourself shredding a guitar solo. Either way, the color accuracy is sublime. For example, I was recording a video reviewing apples (yes it’s a thing) and the outside looked suitably reddish pink while the inner pulp’s vibrant pink was perfectly captured in glorious 4k.

It even has a built-in microphone that sounds pretty good, definitely good enough for work meetings, interviews, attending remote classes or a zoom session with the parents. Overall a great webcam for the normal and power user alike. I’d recommend it it anyone interested.

OMG, I didn’t know exactly what I ordered when I ordered this. I only knew that I was tired of using my MacBook Prolaptop camera or my studio display camera for interviews (i work in media) or being interviewed. I wanted something much sharper like my Canon R5 when I use it as a webcam but that Canon is a pain to configure. I wanted something easy I could just plug into the computer. OMG, this camera is so good! First of all, the light sensitivity of the camera is much better, not overly birght and the contrast is closer to what it is in the actual room. Now I can create a better balance of lights and colors in my office. Then the camera itslef is just mind-blowing. It really does have a great, shallower depth of field so the things in the background away from me are blurred out. In other words, the focus fall-off is the best I’ve seen for a webcamera, by far, for sure. The camera itslef is a little large and heavy but that is to be expected with the light it needs to gather a f1.7! Now the software that can be donloaded is PC based but I’m using it on my mac systems, so for me, it is plug and play. All my MAC apps located the camera as an input device, so all I had to do was change it to the default camera in my app settings. I would recommend this to anyone who is streaming, recording for media, or like me, just wanted a more professional presentation when doing live events. Man, I know as soon as so other tech–types seethis, they will be jealous and want to get one themselves! Thanks, Razer. This camera rocks!
