While this tripod is light (for what it is), it feels substantial. The triangular center allows it to fold up more compactly than other models. That compactness, the weight, and the height are why I chose it for mounting my spotting scope. I am 6’ 3” and can use this tripod for my straight spotting scope.

I really love this tripod. It’s super light very quick and easy to set up, packs down to a very small size and the max height gives way more adjustment than I need being 5’10”. I can lean into it and put some serious weight on it and the legs and center column doesn’t slip down. I’m only giving it the 3 star review because the center column is sloppy. I noticed around the collar for that center column on each side (the center column is a triangle) there is a threaded hole the same as the tensioner screw, I think maybe if they included the other 2 tension screws it would tighten up quite a lot.

Je n’ai pas encore beaucoup de recul mais ce trépied remplit parfaitement ses fonctions et est très agréable à utiliser. Matériau de qualité qui semble fait pour durer.

With so many tripods out there, I had to narrow my search to find something that fits my specific needs (a challenging process because I want it all sometimes lol). I shoot on my desk for talking head videos, the gym for instructions or my own workouts, the parking lot, and mostly close to mid range shots. Now, I like to carry/travel light weight and with minimal gear. Additionally, I make sure to purchase equipment that performs optimally and offer flexibility/versatility.
The AM 225 and ST 125 are by far the best affordable carbon fiber tripods out there and well suited for my needs. I go over the details on my video but for this section, all I can say is that I opted for the ST 125 and the AM 223 (for talking head/table footage).
The ST 125 is slightly taller (folded; ~1.5″), thicker (~1″), and heavier (~100g) than the AM 225 as well. However, its not by much. The ST 125 may be a bit pricer (~$70 more) but it offers a triangular center column for that added height and security, thicker legs for stability, and is waterproof. One con is that this tripod (ST 125) does not include a ball head (BK 00). I use that one and love it, by the way. Super smooth. ~$50 bucks too.
But all of theses features are one unit whereas the AM 225 only reaches about 50″. To get that extra height, you got to buy SIRUI’s center column (100). This was not ideal for me as it would add unnecessary steps and more equipment to carry.
Both are great. It does depend on you and purpose. Even if I had it as a gift, I just wouldn’t see why I should keep it when the ST 125 does it all so well. So, I decided to keep the ST 125 with BK 00 ball head and do not regret it.
I hope this was helpful. Thanks for reading my review.

I was looking for an overall lightweight tripod for my Bono’s and spotting scope to carry in my back pack.

I got this to upgrade my current hunting tripod setup. Makes glassing deer very enjoyable. The legs are quick to deploy and the head is smooth as butter. Works great with all my optics and rifle !

Great set of sticks. This is ideally suited for a Full frame or medium-large camera, maybe overkill for a mirrorless APSC camera, it is rock solid and maybe a little chunkier than what you could pair with a smaller camera. But the leg locks are perfect, the material feels good and the carbon fiber is s*xy.

The pan head is a bit heavy for my purpose but really like this tripod

Upon opening the box this tripod was packaged in the first thing that struck me was the absolute quality of the materials that compose all the metal workings of this tripod. It appears to possess the highest quality materials and the most gorgeous colors I’ve ever seen on such equipment. Though I haven’t actually used it yet I trust simply by the appearance and feel of it that it will perform above & beyond what I’ve already read about this unit based on my exhaustive research of reviews regarding lightweight & strong, small tripods. I’m very excited.
UPDATE: 12/17/23 – Upon closer examination I have unfortunately discovered that the bubble level located on the headstock arrived shattered & drained of its fluid. I have contacted SIRUI directly through their customer service as one of the 3 options Amazon.com gave me upon addressing “broken or missing parts” because I really don’t feel the need to send the whole thing back as that piece has screws that make it easily replaceable. I asked SIRUI if they’ll simply send me the part. I will keep updates here.

Light weight and seems to be well built.
