I installed this Crucial SSD in an older HP All-in-one computer. The physical installation was easy and the hardest part was copying the contents of my old drive to the new one. My computer is running faster and I am quite pleased. It was a great upgrade for under $50.

Easy installation with the well-made Crucial support videos that are available via the included instructions. A SATA to USB adapter is needed; I picked up one via Amazon for less than $10. Taking my time, it took me a bit over an hour to complete the process of original HDD cloning to the new SSD & hardware changeout on my Asus K55A 2012 version laptop. With Windows 10 Home previously installed & an upgrade from 6GB to 16GB of RAM, the Crucial BX500 1TB SSD upgrade reduced boot time from 1 minute 10 seconds to 25 seconds! General speed has improved significantly; the laptop now performs like a newer & faster machine. Very pleased!

Installation was so easy, my Dell laptop has an external bay for the HD so after cloning the old 128G SSD onto this new 480G drive, I just swapped the drives and plugged the new drive in, booted right up.
Speed wise I checked with Crystal mark and it was decent, similar to other machines of this vintage. I use this machine for programming machine control systems so I need to keep the old girl running.
Price was very good and Amazon had it delivered next day early morning.
FWIW I like to keep with name brands when it comes to SSD’s and flash memory. Not saying that the no name brands won’t work fine but the number of reviews on this drive was an order of magnitude greater than the lesser known brands.

This is an inexpensive SSD drive that will dramatically increase the performance of an older laptop. A perfect upgrade for a casual PC user.
However the BX series is a value oriented SSD, and is not the best choice for users who do heavy write activity like video production, some games, large databases or backup storage. For applications that involve a lot of disk write activity or for users who want a little better performance and possibly longevity the MX series is probably the superior choice.
The crucial BX series is a significant performance upgrade from a traditional hard disk, and will provide a noticeable speed benefit for an older laptop. You’ll also get silent operation, and a little longer battery life.
