This computer is great! I picked it bc of the storage it offers! And the i5 core. It was cheap (Black Friday) and didn’t disappoint! I’m still testing it out (battery life and sound quality), battery life is a little confusing bc every time the percent goes down, it says the computer has more hours of life. A bit weird, but the computer works fine. Can’t wait to use it more in the future!
I love the touchscreen. At first I didn’t intend to get a computer with a touchscreen (some say the touchscreen makes the computer weigh more, others say the battery life gets drained faster), but I haven’t ran into that problem. I did download google chrome, and the computer said that the program drains the battery faster, so I ended up deleting it.
Overall, I think this computer is a good one to have. Good screen size, doesn’t weigh too much, ample amount of storage, and has the cool feature of a touchscreen!

I received my new Dell 15.6 Inspiron 15 as promised and in a timely manner. I really like how light this laptop feels, and the keys are easy to press. This is my first time utilizing a touchscreen laptop. I have to say…I really love it. I was also able to download Window Media Player and a few other software with no problem. Thus far, great price and great laptop!

I bought the Dell Inspiron for my 15 year old son for Christmas. I ordered the laptop from Amazon.com at the end of November after learning all the local stores were sold out of this laptop model even before their doors opened on Black Friday. I received the laptop 4-5 days after ordering it, so this gave me time to test it out before it was opened on Christmas morning. Personally I am not a big fan of the touch screen. I realize this is probably more of a generation thing, but I much prefer a mouse. So I instantly went out and purchased a wireless mouse for under $15.00 at Staples. For me this made navigation so much easier. Many of the reviews for this model Dell complain about the touch-pad or screen freezing. I have not had any issues with the cursor or screen hanging, but then again I used the wireless mouse 90% of the time. Now that my son is using the laptop, he also seems to prefer the wireless mouse over the touchscreen or touchpad.
Once I opened the box I was able to connect to the internet almost instantly I was able to install some of my son’s favorite software (Spotify, Roblox) as well as re-install Office 2010 from a old CD that I purchased several years ago without any issues. The only issue that I encountered (and this is probably a Windows 10 thing) is that when the laptop started, my son was prompted for my Google ID. I believe I had previously entered my ID when I tested the webcam using Skype. It took me about an hour to finally find where to disable this setting and use the local laptop ID. However when I clicked “Use Local ID” the laptop would hourglass for a very long time. Eventually after trying several times and rebooting, if finally worked and now the Windows 10 login uses the local laptop ID.
My only complaint thus far would be that the laptop start-up is fairly slow. It takes at least 1-2 minutes for everything to load after logging into the laptop. I have looked at the start programs, and the laptop only seems to be starting up the necessary programs. I would have thought an i5 with 8 GB RAM would start much quicker. However once all the programs are fully loaded, the laptop seems to perform fine, although thus far we have not attempted to push the performance boundaries.
Overall I would give this laptop a 4 trending to a 5. However the laptop has only been in use for 5 days so I would have to give it some more time in order to really evaluate how dependable it will be.

I bought two of these for my wife and I to replace a computer that we lost over the Christmas holiday due to a battery explosion. Lesson learned. Do not buy cheap replacement batteries from China. This computer does everything I need it to. If you are buying a computer for gaming, then this is not for you. If you use it to surf the net and for word processing and for storing pictures and data, this is excellent. My wife and I are very pleased about the quality for the value. Dell computers are excellent. I recommend them highly.

The touch pad does not pinch zoom or scroll as it should. Basically all it can do is move the cursor and click (and the tap to click feature is really erratic – sometimes it is super sensitive, other times you really have to bang on it with your finger to get a response). The touch pad hangs and freezes frequently. I have been searching for the answers to this apparently known issue. It is getting more and more irritating as time goes by. Also, I am finding that the performance is not very good – not as good as the specs would suggest. Feels cheap too. May send this one back.
UPDATE: Laptop has been running really badly. Turns out it came with a faulty power adapter, which causes a low voltage condition and CPU problems. My order screen says “support window closed” which I assume means I am out of luck. Stay away from this one folks.
