I’m reviewing only this Levoit model’s green toxin filter, not the unit itself. However, I do recommend this air purifier model – especially for a medium and reasonably large-sized bedroom, enclosed living room/den/kitchen (If you have >8′ ceilings, buy a unit with higher CADR rating), office, or other like-sized area
I used the stock filter this model includes for a month with good results, and then decided to try this upgrade filter when I found it on-sale for $30 instead of $36. I don’t have a pet(s) or smoke cigarettes, but occasionally wildfire smoke drifts over from in-state and distant states. Yes, IMO, it performs better across the board vs. stock white against odors, and hopefully on VOCs, as claimed. It definitely produces a cleaner “smelling” air than stock filter, IMO.
Model 300 uses a pre-filter nylon netting that needs to be vacuumed at minimum once a month for best efficiency/performance and useful HEPA filter lifespan, regardless of its time-to-replace light. This only takes a couple minutes on model 300. Carefully use a bare nozzle or clean, soft brush attachment to do this for best results (I haven’t tried it, but a shop vac is probably too much power and might damage its screen). Don’t clean with a wet rag; it will clog its fine, nylon mesh.
Some environments are more demanding than others, of course, necessitating a more frequent filter replacement. But for all-around use, this filter performs well with its fan and, IMO, it’s better than stock. At +$6 over base it’s kinda pricey, although that extra cost is minor over its HEPA life. Try to catch these filters on-sale and buy two, if feasible.
This air purifier model with toxin filter is for general use and not constant wildfire or cigarette smoke, or strong outgassing from VOC materials or gas heating/cooking fuel combustion emissions. However, it does perform well against fireplace and wood stove pollution, and on kitchen cooking odors. And its effective HEPA filter life and 300 unit performance can be maximized if its pre-filter is vacuumed at least monthly.

My location has a lot of dust in the air so the pre-filter only lasts about 2-3 weeks, not a month. Wish there was OEM pre-filters I could find. The main-filter works great. Perfect fit, does not allow dirty air to bypass. For the volume of air this pushes it is very very quite.

This filter is great. No more smoke smell, dust smell, mold smell (after source is removed of course), and pet odors are definitely defeated by this filter.
To those complaining about its smoke removal capabilities, dont smoke around it while it is on. Turn it off before lighting up and wait a few minutes before turning it back on after done your smoking.

We live in an area of the United States that has TERRIBLE air quality. We have numerous air purifiers. I decided to replace two of them with this brand and ordered these filters. They work. THEY WORK. We go through the filters at a faster rate because of the pollutants, but they are worth the money. They work!!!
