The outside of these have a soft grippy rubber coating for protection and the focusing wheel is super smooth and precise.. a thing of beauty. The eye cups are adjustable for those that wear glasses and have a positive ‘click’ when turning. They also have a locking diopter ring.. a feature often missing on more expensive bins.
Optically, the Nikon P7’s are superior to the P3 line as they use dielectric coatings on the prisms which improve light transmission that result in a brighter image. I was amazed how much detail I could resolve in dark shadows with these. There is some chromatic aberration (blue fringe) when viewing dark objects against light backgrounds but it’s minimal and not very noticeable. The Field of View is impressive for a 10×42.. it’s almost as wide as their 8×42 bins.
The only downer is the cheap end caps that pop-off way too easily and will probably get lost. Amazon carry Svbony caps which are a good replacement and fit snugly.

    Very happy overall with these.

Will compare Vortex Crossfire with the new Prostaff P7 both in 10×42. Edge to edge clarity is considerably better with the Crossfire, on the Nikon the right barrel is a bit worse than the left in this respect. Center on field clarity is very good on both. Colors are more vivid with the Vortex. Focus wheel is a tiny bit more precise with the Nikons. The Nikon is and feels a little lighter than the Vortex. The objective lenses set further in on the Nikons and therefore are protected better with less need for objective covers in the field. My impression is that warenty service is better with Vortex ( I know first hand Vortex is superb in this respect) Maybe I just got a bad specimen with the Nikons? Update : I ordered the P7 in 8×30 before receiving the 10x42s. The 8x30s are a very easy 5 star in every way. Better than I hoped! Amazing binocular and not just for the price. 8×30 so good it leads me to believe I simply got a defective pair in the 10x42s. Going to raise my rating of the Prostaff P7 from 3 stars to 5.

This was good binoculars for the price . The picture view is descent but just too much shaking. The 10x will do that but will bring so much closer than 8x.

We head always used cheap binoculars purchased 30 years ago. OMG what a difference! Clear, large aperture , not too big and not too heavy.
Caps are not tight fitting(we kept them in the case when using ther binoculars). Focusing was easy, fit our eyes well.

Clear vision and light in weight. There is a small Mick in one of the lenses, at the rim. The vision is not compromised though

This is my first purchase of binoculars and I’m happy I spent a little more to get a good quality pair. They adjust easy and I like being able to set it in a locked position for my eyes. I didn’t care for the lense caps that weren’t attached to the binoculars so I bought caps that attached to my cord so they won’t get misplaced.

These Binos pass all my expectations with outstanding clarity and brightness. I see details not seen by my human eyes. I did research to find the best glasses for birding and I did good with the Pro 7’s! Highly recommend them.

First of all, I wear glasses all the time. I have seen a few reviews that have said that these are no good for people who wear glasses. That is not true. These focus perfectly and adjust so that I see everything clearly.
If you wear your glasses at the end of your nose, then that may be a problem.
Also, there is a reviewer here on Amazon that recommends the Opticron 48 – 50 mm objective lens covers. Model # 31023. It looks like their review is for a different model, but same lens size and Amazon has grouped them all together.
Those do NOT fit. They are too big. I purchased those and had to return them. The 47 – 48mm outer diameter ones fit perfectly. Model # 31047.
These are excellent quality binoculars; too bad they could not supply better objective lens covers.
The case is pretty flimsy for these also…

Great optics, poor quality strap, inadequate instructions

    1. The binoculars does not come fastened to the strap.
    2. No clear written instructions on how to fasten the strap to the binoculars
    3. No video link available for # 2 on the nikon usa website either
    4. The leading edge of the strap gets warped when threading.
    5. It would have been nice if the leading edge was firmer, thinner and narrower so that it would be easier to thread.
    6. The two eye piece covers differ in how they can be fastened to the strap. No instructions on how to thread the eye piece cover.
    7. I am requesting an exchange as the binoculars itself is lovely – focus, light, scanning, field of vision perfect for birding.

The binoculars provide a very clear image. They give the ability to easily focus each eye separately and the eye pieces are adjustable for a comfortable fit. Good value for the price.
