So happy with this tv and I am very particular about aesthetics! I hate televisions in living rooms but this one looks amazing! Great sound – no sound bar needed. Adds amazing style to the room. Beautiful picture and art – love the matte glass finish. Easy to mount, light weight and only sits an inch off the wall. We had an electrician run the cable through the wall to a closet behind TV in the foyer. Electrician installed outlet in closet and one connect box sits on shelf in coat closet and works great!

This Samsung TV really does look like art on the wall. It’s blends into the room easily and with an inexpensive subscription, you can have rotating art. We placed the TV in our living room and it looks like a painting over the fireplace rather than a TV. When we do watch it, the motion is smooth, colors vibrant, and blacks dark. The viewing angle is good and overall the TV is slim and beautiful. We looked for a long time before deciding on this style of TV and we are glad we did.

The Samsung 43″ Frame TV arrived in great condition and was fairly easy to unpack by myself. It took about 30 minutes to hang after carefully measuring the space and making sure the mounts were level. The connection cable is thin and mostly transparent if you do not want to run the cable inside the walls. The cable is about 16′ long, so you have plenty of wiggle room for custom installs. Unfortunately the “connect” box is rather large and cumbersome. Where I am mounting this there is no console below the TV or anywhere near it – so I will have to install a floating shelf for the box – that is in no way sleek or attractive.

Once installed and connected I chose the smartphone setup process (you can do it by remote also, just takes longer). You do need to create a Samsung account to take advantage of many features – including adding artwork. You can subscribe to the Samsung artwork program for $5 monthly, or less annually. There was a 2 month free trial at setup.

I spent more time trying to figure out setting up the artwork display to only work during the daytime or by room motion – and it still does not work. So far I can only have it on all the time or off. I will need to research this more – I don’t want it running all the time when there is no one to see it.

As far as picture quality goes, it is pretty good. My main TV is OLED, so I cannot compare this to that unit. It does have a good picture in most lighting situations. The sound is not bad either – surprisingly good for such a thin TV. I opted to reinstall my soundbar for a more immersive experience. The set supports Dolby Atmos – a great feature for movie buffs.

Installing this television saved me some space is a very tight apartment bedroom. I could get rid of the existing TV that was on a tripod style stand and open up that space for a side chair. It looks much better and adds a nice contemporary look to the room.

I included a picture of the included frame and one of an optional one. In my opinion it looks 100% better with the optional frame – like real artwork. If it’s in your budget I would research the options for optional frames – there are many available that match almost any decor.

Overall I really like this television. I think the app is unnecessarily over complicated, but that could be resolved just by taking the time to learn it. I would definitely recommend this television to others (and already have) – it’s well worth the investment.

I start this review from the overall quality of this smart TV
This is a really really great device, with great performances, thanks to the QLED technology, that makes it one of the best products I have seen or tested so far, even if compared to an OLED smart TV of the same size.
The audio quality is also quite decent, at least for a 43” screen. The speakers are located in a separate module, that groups also the different ports: this allows more flexibility on connecting different devices without the need to access to the back of the screen, and also to reduce its overall thickness.
To close the review of the audio and video compartment, the matt finishing of the screen is great to improve the video quality, when the screen is exposed to a direct light, as it limits its reflection. This last specification is key for the specific function this device has been designed for.

All these aspects perfectly match with the possibility to use this tv as a virtual canvas of a painting:
If used for this purpose, the results are quite astonishing and, if you well play with the ambient lights, you can really mistake the TV screen for a painting.

To supoort this specific function, the great samsung operative system includes the possibility to customise the screensaver with different paintings, grouped by artist, style or specific themes. Everytime you turn off the tv, the screen will turn automatically in a virtual painting, showing the image you selected or on a random selection from a specitfic collection at your choice.

So far, a really great product, well positioned among the top smart TVs, especially on the 43” category.

So, if everything is so good, what’s the reason of the 4 stars rating?

The reason is the price: almost 900 dollars for a 43” Smart TV, even if high quality, is, for me a little too much, unless you are ready to pay this premium for the specific and unique functions of this product.

To this price, you will in any case have to add the cost of the frame (you can find several options on Amazon) as this television, without a specific detachable wooden or metallic frame, doesn’t have too much sense.
The cost of the frames varies from around $100 to $400.
Finally, if you want to exploit the full potential from this TV and access to thousands of different paintings or pictures, you will have to subscribe to a specific service, at a price of around 6 dollars per month.

In conclusion: a really great product, with almost no defect for a 43” smart TV, but with an over the average price, partially justified by its additional features.
A great choice if you are really looking for a virtual painting, to add a touch of style to your room, or to hide a potentially unaesthetic electronic device in an elegant environment. In this case, this is the right product for your needs, and you will be probably ready to pay premium to own it: at the end, beauty and art are priceless…

I would have given it 4.5 stars if I could, only because the software (SmartThings) takes some getting used to and really could be a lot better. But hey, you’re buying this Because (1) it’s a high quality tv (2) it displays (most) art realistically and (3) it is very thin. I have another one of these and I only use it for art. The best looking pieces are those that are pastel or oil based impressionists works that show the palate knife patterns or age, but really all art looks great on these. Go look at other reviews. There is a lot of content because Samsung really is the only company doing this. The matte panel reduces reflection nicely. You can also upload your own art. Lots of fun! I thoroughly enjoy it.

Do not buy if you live in an apartment building. They won’t call you when they are outside, I guess laziness.
