One of the standout features of this screen protector is its ultra-clear HD clarity. I had to chance to take a close up look between three different S24 glass protectors: the Whitestone Dome EA, the AmFilm Glass OneTouch, and the UAG Glass Shield Plus.

Upon opening the package, I was met with immediate disappointment. At a whopping $50, I got a single tempered glass protector (compared to 2x from everyone else) with an alignment guide that looks like it came out of a sub-$10 screen protector. To add insult to injury, I lined up the protector on top of the Whitestone and AmFilm and noticed that it was also 1mm smaller all around.

This effectively means it has less screen coverage than protectors that are half/a quarter of its price. While this also means potentially better case compatibility, that wasn’t an issue anyway on the other two protectors. Furthermore, there isn’t any front camera cutout which impact image quality even if it’s not immediately noticeable.

The only good thing I can find is that this seems to have anti-reflective and anti-microbial properties that’s not advertised on the other two.

Overall, I cannot recommend when there’s so many better options out there beyond the ones I already stated. The value is simply too poor.

Unlike the good ol’ days of the flip phones, with the screen being one of the most vital parts of any smartphone today, I’m a strong believer in screen protectors. This even includes those who run cases, because the surface you might drop your phone at won’t always be flat and smooth like at home. So this was a great opportunity for me to test out UAG’s notoriously expensive screen protectors. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as perfect as the asking price might’ve suggested.

Here are some things I liked, and some things I didn’t:

↪ Compared to some super-cheap screen protectors, this goes pretty much from edge-to-edge (where others don’t/cannot), of course accounting for the case fitment. There is a tiny gap (less than 1mm) so that it’s case compatible with not just UAG cases, but also other 3rd party cases.
↪ I like that the alignment trays were provided. They aren’t the highest quality, and some of the black paint from the tray came off a smidge, but overall, they did the job.
↪ Other necessary materials (such as dust stickers and microfiber cloth) were included with instructions and other reading materials.
↪ While I was not able to verify the 9H rating on Moh’s Hardness scale, upon stress testing, I noticed it was indeed tempered glass (with surprising flexibility; almost resembling a mix of tempered glass and film).

↪ Frankly, this screen protector by UAG makes unusually large amount of claims on the capabilities of this product. Even giving some objectively unverifiable claims (e.g. anti-microbial properties) a benefit of the doubt, there are a lot that are MISLEADING.
↪ The packaging says it has some “Anti-Reflective Technology”, but despite that, the reflections were plenty and not any better than other screen protectors that I’ve tested out (incl. Spigen, JETech, ESR, Ringke, Case-Mate, LK, etc.). Unlike how the differences in between the regular S24 and the S24 Ultra with the anti-glare feature is pronounced and unmistakable, UAG acts like just about any others on the market.
↪ The “Anti-Fingerprint” and “oleophobic” coating claims are highly misleading because it took not even 30 seconds for the screen protector to be covered in fingerprints. In fact, the plastic film to protect the tempered glass was only on the adhesive side, so the screen protector was immediately full of smudges and fingerprints out of the packaging. Don’t expect these to stay clean without being cleaned.
↪ Despite having an “Ultra Clear HD Screen”, I still had to re-register my fingerprints (which made it reset all biometric-authenticated apps). It is possible to continue using the phone without having to re-register but you will get errors more often with slower registration of ultrasonic sensors, so I cannot say it is as good as others on the market, some of which actually don’t even need re-registration and will still work perfectly.
↪ I found that the screen protector’s adhesive was fairly weak – and therefore, could be easily taken off from the edges where there is a gap between it and the case (if you even have one on).
↪ I am honestly annoyed because for such an expensive screen protector, the “cleaning kit” actually doesn’t even include any alcohol wipes. In fact, this evidence is supported on their website description which reads “…kit also helps you maintain its shine” meaning the included cleaning kit wasn’t even meant for the installation – but rather, for after. This is contradictory to their “Anti-Fingerprint” claims that made it sound like no cleaning was ever going to be needed. What a mess!

Speaking of ‘expensive’, let’s talk about the biggest issue with this, which is the price. At $49.95 (at the time of this review), I cannot justify the price of this product. For me, nothing particularly stands out, nothing particularly works better over the competition, and it simply just does what it said it would do. In fact, some others include an even better version of the applicator tray that don’t even require you to touch the glass directly, not to mention this only includes 1. Yes, you read that right – ONE whereas others will include at least 2, if not 3.

It’s just not acceptable that the price is almost 2.5x if not 3x the competition, with nothing going for it. As stated above, I’ve tested out numerous other screen protectors on various different smartphones, and I will tell you that you’re not missing out and you’re certainly not getting more for the money – in fact, you’re wasting your money. It only retains 2 stars purely because it works, but otherwise, I CANNOT recommend this product. Please do yourself a favour, and look elsewhere. Hope this helps.
