Before buying this I was unable to find information about whether this v4 camera would work with the Wyze Lamp Socket that was previously only compatible with the v3 cameras. For those unaware the Lamp Sockets allow powering the camera from an outside lamp fixture while controlling the function of the lamp and can form their own networks to operate multiple fixtures. I was very pleased to find that this v4 camera is powered from the Lamp Socket and has full functionality to operate networked Lamp Sockets while retaining the function of its built in spotlight. Kudos to Wyze for maintaining this compatibility. So far the rest of the camera features are also spectacular.

Iāve tried just about every camera Wyze makes over the years. Love their products and use them every day. I was pleasantly surprised with how good this new camera is – big upgrade in quality from the previous version. The picture quality is excellent (2k) and the built in light is nice for motion detection at night. It has a nice zoom feature as well when it detects motion (the feature is currently in āpreviewā) but you can disable it if you donāt want it on. Iāll gradually replace all of my older Wyze cameras with this updated version over time.

Camera seems to be upgraded with high quality resolution and I really appreciate the magnetic bottom so I can attach it to a metallic surface without using any screws. So happy with it! š

i have owned a few of there cameras before and they where nice and this camera is too it has a lot of nice features and you can put a SD card in it

The Camera itself is very nice. But this version you cannot use Wyze Cam Lite, (The free, or “Pay what you want” subscription option) which allows for 12 second video clips for events. They claim it’s because they use AI features. I honestly think they are just trying to force you to pay for the subscription. Ever other Camera they sell allows it.
It’s a huge pet peeve to not be able to use electronics you purchase unless you subscribe to some monthly fee. For someone like me that doesn’t need all the detection abilities, but just needs the short video clips for events, it’s seem immoral to paywall that simple feature especially when it is available for all other Cams.
Willing to update my review if they change this.

I own 7 Wyze products and regret purchasing this device. Wired only solution and unclear in packaging, instruct and website.

The good. Better picture quality and clearity. The change in color and shape is nice as well.
The bad. The one I got at least has very little wifi signal right next to my v3. 1 bar vs 3 in the exact same location. Takes longer to load than the v3. Have to have cam plus to get no cool down vs the v3 without it has no cool down. Upgrading subscription on Android is a pain even when you have two cams only on cam plus. It skips frames and freezes worse than the v3s I hav3.
It is an upgrade in picture but still iffy on the rest. It may work better for you. I’ll keep it for just live streaming and save battery on my battery cam pros.
