Il cinturino è molto facile da inserire grazie agli innesti quick-fit, ed oltre ad essere comodo da indossare, risulta di buona qualità sia a livello di materiali, che per quel che riguarda lo spessore, la consistenza, e la morbidezza del silicone. Inoltre, ha una forma ed un design interessante ed accattivante, oltre che un sistema di chiusura sicuro, sebbene non sia affidato alla classica fibbia in metallo che per molti potrebbe risultare scomoda.

Il rovescio della medaglia è che questo sistema di chiusura inedito, risulta un po’ difficile da chiudere rispetto a quelli classici, e anche prendendoci la mano è veramente poco immediato ed intuitivo. Inoltre, la parte del cinturino a ridosso degli innesti quick-fit è più larga di quest’ultimi, oltre i 26 mm: sebbene sia sagomata in modo corretto non permette l’utilizzo di cover sulla cassa dell’orologio.

Using the Quickfit connectors the band installs and uninstalls very quickly without having to remove the watch pins. This is a great feature. The watch band fits the watch case as good as the factory supplied band.

One other point that is different between the old and new band is that this band doesn’t have the little molded pieces at the band connection points that fit tightly to the watch case like the original Garmin band. I kind of like this as it makes the band look a little smaller. And the straps seem to pull down quicker against my wrist. It’s a personal thing but I thought I’d mention it.

The watch band itself is soft, wide and fairly thick, about the same thickness as the band originally provided with the watch.

The band is made from silicone and uses square shaped holes in the band to provide stepped adjustments for your wrist size. The adjustments steps are well calibrated and provide a fine adjustment. To set the position at the selected hole this band uses a fixed Stud set into the band that is pushed up through the square hole. The excess band is then routed down and inside the band (against your wrist) instead of laid across the outside surface of the band and kept in place with silicone bands.

For me, it’s very easy to select a comfortable hole position for the stud. And I prefer the excess strap being tucked away inside the band instead of laid on the outside surface. For me it was always a pain trying to thread the excess strap through the outside strap holders. But by routing the band inside you do make the strap a little tighter after you have picked one of the square holes. So, I usually find the right hole, then back off one to account for the internal strap. The stub makes it easy to keep track of the hole you pick letting you adjust back and forth very easily.

I’m liking the new band so far although like any new style of band I’m still finding my technique for putting it on. Remember the 2 band pieces can connect to either side of the watch (i.e. stud side of the band attaches to the 12 o’clock position or 6 o’clock position). The band looks very sturdy and well made. I would expect it to last a long time. If you’re looking for a replacement band and willing to try something a little different this is a good one to consider. It’s also relatively inexpensive.
