First off, take notice of the model, it seems that Amazon is the only place carrying the -287 variant of this model. It’s also priced about $500 more for the same specs anywhere else. From what I can tell, this is an Amazon only version. Now about the computer! I set out on a mission. I needed something that could take anything I threw at it, and still have some overhead. I also need it to be portable and capable. I plan to use this for streaming events, web design, Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects and many other taxing things. I also needed it to have ports, not dongles.

I spent weeks looking at machines only to keep coming up with too many limitations, not enough ports, crappy CPU, not enough RAM, or an onboard GPU. Then I stumble across this little device. Priced well below what it should be, and specs are far better than most machines out there. I was a little nervous since this model number doesn’t exist anywhere else, but I went for it.

A few days in and I can’t imagine anything else. This computer is flat out incredible. It’s everything a modern computer should be. It has ports, it has power, it has battery, it has a screen that is crisp, clear, and precise. It has an extra m.2 slot for another drive, which I have already installed. The keyboard is wonderful. The trackpad is fluid and more than usable, and the build quality is exceptional.

All in all, this is the machine that you want. It will do anything you ask, and never have issues. No gimmicks, just a flat out powerhouse. After working with computers for all my life, this is by far the best machine I’ve come across, period. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.

Love the laptop, it’s fast and slim with amazing specs and very easy to upgrade ssd and ram. However I wish I had known the screen was only 60hz, that would have been nice to include in the specs. Found a similar Asus with same specs but 300hz refresh rate.

    Update——
So the laptop did turn off on me and stopped working, I just got my replacement. The customer service has been exceptionally great. Minus some minor issues with Amazon CX service not submitting my reports like they said they had a couple times until my request was actually put through for a replacement.

You can’t beat the price for a laptop with these specs: i7 10875H, GTX 2070 Super Max-Q, 4k Screen, 32GB Ram, 1TB SSD, Thunderbolt 3, and the largest battery that’s allowed in an airplane. For gaming and video editing (i.e. Davinci Resolve Studio), this laptop has been excellent! Here are some of my experiences to set the right expectation for those considering…

When using the 2070 Super GPU (or any decent GPU), there will be fan noise and it will get hot, so please don’t leave bad reviews when a performance computer is loud and hot when you’re using it. A fast and silent computer doesn’t exist. For a silent/cool experience during web browsing or light usage, you can use the “silent” mode in MSI Creator Center or create a custom profile to your liking. I had no issues with this. I also recommend a fan/cooling pad when using intensive applications.

The 4k screen I received is superb. Maybe this isn’t the case for everyone and I got lucky; very bright, no dead pixels, great color reproduction, and very minimal bleeding. It’s not OLED, but then again, you won’t find an OLED with same specs/package at this price point. I am more than happy with the display I received.

32GB Ram and 1TB SSD (with expansion slot) are great and should be standard. Battery life is pretty good considering the specs. Don’t expect 8+ hours. More like 4-6 for normal usage, and far less when gaming or editing. Over a few years it will degrade just like all batteries do.

Size, weight and portability are excellent considering specs and 99 Whr battery. Oversized touchpad feels great and is very useful. Keyboard works as expected. Would like to have had a number pad but not a deal breaker for me. Wifi and bluetooth connectivity (mouse, keyboard, headphones, game controllers, Davinci speed editor) has been flawless in my experience. Speakers are mediocre, but I always use Bluetooth headphones or a portable speaker anyways. Webcam not spectacular but works just fine. Charger it came with is huge but you can buy a 100W USB-C charger (for about $35) to travel light if you’re okay sacraficing slight performance. Thunderbolt is great, however the (only) 1 usb-a port is inconvenient at times. SD Card reader a plus for content creation.

I have not had any blue screens or software issues that others speak of. The first thing I did once received was reload clean Windows 10 Pro and went to MSI website to reload/update all drivers and this process removed all bloatware.

In conclusion, I got what matters most to me most at a great price well under $2k. Very happy overall.

I bought this laptop to use for coding, production, and the occasional game. While it can do all of those things well, I felt really disappointed in the general feeling the laptop gave me.

First off, to deal with high temperatures and loud fans, I disabled turbo boosting. This helped ALOT during games and even regular use. This is a must do on every creator 15 as without it, the computer thermal throttles and runs extremely hot. However, this solution does not solve the problem of the intermittent fans and lack of true fan control provided by the creator center software.

The large battery is great in advertising, but in real world use I was getting around 4-5h of constant use just coding and browsing the web. It’s not great, but not bad either. Don’t expect to game or do any heavy tasks while unplugged.

The other thing that is off-putting is the lack of build quality by MSI. Sure, it looks nice and feels sturdy (at times when it doesn’t creak), but it does creak and bend depending on how you hold it. Moreover, the thing that really made me regret buying this computer was using it on my lap and getting a cut on my thigh by a piece of plastic that wasn’t properly sealed inside the laptop. (See pics).

Overall, if you prioritize pure performance and a great screen over battery life, build quality, fan noise, and heat – then get this laptop. Otherwise, like me, you may be returning it to get another one.

I purchased this laptop after having my Razer Blade Stealth for about 6 years. The only real issue I had with my Razer was that it had serious cooling issues which started causing frequent reliability issues and then I broke my charger which really prompted me to get this laptop.

I was picking between the newer version of the Razer Blade which supposedly has better cooling and this laptop, but the specs on the MSI really blew me away. Better storage, better cooling, better graphics, better ram, the only thing I miss is the touch screen.

It is my first 15 inch, my last laptop was 13 and I really liked that size better for mobile work, I have a PC for all of my real content creation. I actually have a bit of an issue with how big it is cause it doesn’t fit into my hiking/photography backpack in the laptop slot anymore. Additionally it is quite a bit heavier than my Razer Blade. It didn’t seem like that much of a difference in the specs, but with the charging block, it adds a decent amount of weight. Both of those notes are things to consider when it comes to traveling with this laptop.

I’ve had this laptop a full week now and have had no issues with it. The keyboard is very nice, much more responsive than my last one. The touch pad is pretty good, though the right click section is much larger than what I’m used to which causes efficiency issues for me until I get used to it, but that’s not an issue with the design itself. I did have a bit of an issue setting up the finger print scanner the first time I tried, but it works well once you get your finger scanned. I like the controls on the keyboard for the camera, touch pad, etc and i love that there are “home” and “end” keys.

I am very excited to use the content sharing feature, folding the laptop screen all of the way back and swapping it to share content across the table. Really looking forward to using that in actual meetings.

For every day basic use it really is “silent” in silent mode, it does get fairly loud once you open something like photoshop or illustrator, but I haven’t had any performance issues, so I’m okay with a little more noise. It’s not nearly as loud as my boyfriend’s ASUS ROG G703 though.

I haven’t really given the audio system much thought. I played music off the speakers and it sounds okay, honestly not as good as I expected after reading about all of the “hi-res” and “pro audio” features it has, but I do graphic, photography, and web development, so audio really isn’t my thing lol.

As expected, one of my main complaints so far is the lack of USB ports. I think it’s pretty unacceptable for a laptop to have only one, it was one of the main factors pushing me toward the Razer. Sure it has thunderbolt and type c ports, but nothing I already own uses that. If I want to use my headset and my mouse at the same time, that’s impossible without a USB hub, which I purchased immediately with the laptop because I expected this to be an issue.

Overall I do recommend this laptop to anyone looking to do some content creation on the go or specifically client facing work sharing that content. I haven’t tried to game on it yet, but from all of the benchmark testing I saw in a video comparing laptops, I expect it to work just fine for more things, though I’ll probably just stick to gaming on my PC.
