Got this camera when I saw it would be run off of solar. Its not often you find security cameras that have good reviews and dont have to have a hard wire. It was easy to install and was done in about 15 minutes. The image it gives off is nice, over all pretty clear and sharp. I was pleasantly surprised with how the app works with the camera. I think something to note is having several people have access to it and the possibility of storage. We havent been keeping the video files but if you are wanting to you will want to look into storage cause the files get big! Easy solution with good video overall!

I’ve tried pretty much all brands of outdoor cameras on the market, including lots of American, European, and Asian brands, including Chinese. Reolink makes the absolute best products out there, with the best combination of hardware and software features, reliable motion detection, great mobile apps. This camera is no exception with it’s high quality 4K image, solar-power option, and 2.4/5 Ghz WiFi. It’s as bulletproof as all the other ones I’ve had, and the software does a great job with all of the features like motion detection, night vision, SD card recording, etc. Can’t recommend this enough.

I’ve been running various Reolink security cameras for over five years now, and Reolink has become my trusted/go-to security camera brand. Why? Because I now have 10 Reolink cameras in my system, and I haven’t had a single issue with any of them in the 5+ years that I’ve been using them. And that’s a pretty darn good track record in my opinion.

And now, about this Reolink camera specifically. It is solidly constructed, and the 4K video quality is excellent. Additionally, it works really well with the Reolink phone app. So far, I haven’t had any functionality, viewing or connection issues with the smartphone app.

Installation of the camera is very straightforward and only took me about twenty-five minutes. All you have to do is mount a Reolink solar panel (sold separately) and the camera next to each other, and then connect the solar panel to the camera. And that’s basically it. But of course, you should charge the camera battery first. Additionally, you really need to point the solar panel in the ideal direction if you want to keep the battery properly charged.

And after you do all that, you are good to go. Because like I said, in my experience, you can depend on Reolink cameras to operate without any issues. I recommend this Reolink camera highly.

If you have any questions about this Reolink solar/Wi-Fi security camera, please feel free to ask, and I’ll try my best to answer. I hope you found this review helpful.

    WHAT’S INCLUDED:
    -Reolink Argus 3 Ultra Camera
    -Camera Mount
    -Screws/Anchors
    -Tree/Post Strap
    -USB Type C Cable
    -Mounting Template
    -Instructions/Security Sticker

    PRODUCT/THOUGHTS:
    Max Resolution: 3840×2160
    FPS: 15
    Sensor: 8MP
    FOV: Horizontal: 105° Vertical: 55° Diagonal: 125°

If you are familiar with the previous Generation of the ARGUS Pro Cameras, then this is very similar to that, with a few changes. The biggest is the upgrade to the Resolution. Which now reaches 3840×2160. The diagonal FOV is also 125 Degrees, which I think is SLIGHTLY bigger than the Argus 3 Pro which I think was 122 degrees. You definitely get a more rounded field of view with this lens over the previous one.

Here is a rundown of the features:
    -2 Way Audio
    -Audible Alarm
    -Spotlights For Color Night vision
    -6 IR LEDs
-Supports both 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ wifi
    -Micro SD Card Local Storage
-Notifications via Push/Email or even FTP
    -Motion Zones
    -Google Assistant and Alexa Compatible
    -Time Lapse
    -Solar Panel Compatible
-Compatible with Multiple Protocols: SSL, TCP/IP, UDP, UPNP, SMTP, NTP, P2P

Something i wanted to point out, is when you are live viewing you have 3 streaming options. Clear (Highest resolution), Balanced, and Fluent. But when you are playing back you only have 2. Clear or Fluent.

I found the performance of the Argus 3 Ultra to be better than the Argus 3 Pro. I’m unsure if the actual processor and wifi chip are better quality over the previous model but to me, it seems like it’s more responsive, more fluid, and just a better overall experience.

The colors, contrast, hues, and saturation all seem to be about accurate. This was testing using the default levels without changing any of those settings.

The spotlight is bright. I don’t know the lumens, but the color is at 6500K which is very cool white.

For overall picture quality. You’re only going to get so much detail in your image. It’s a 1 / 2.7 CMOS sensor and you can only get so much detail from that. This is a shame since this is an 8mp sensor as well and I’ve tested other cameras with 8mp and they can pull off some pretty great looking pictures. It’s not that this is bad, but it could be better. These cameras are just best used trying to get a larger shot. Not for trying to capture license plates or small details on a subject. Black and white night vision works really well though and the 6 IR LEDs really help to illuminate the picture.

This is also a battery camera using a PIR sensor, and most PIR sensors are not very good at capturing objects moving towards them, but rather objects moving side to side. The battery in this though seems to hold up quite well. I ran though hundreds of event clips and it dropped only about 13% over the course of a week. Your milage will vary. I recommend that you get a solar panel if you using this outside.

They also moved the USB-C Port to the bottom of the camera. This is a good move as it helps mitigate the chances of water getting into your connection ports, which has been a problem on previous ARGUS models as a point of failure. I don’t see that being a problem with this model with the relocation of that port. Thats a massive plus.

If you are in the Reolink Ecosystem and you need to upgrade your previous battery models, then this should be for you. Just keep in mind that you won’t be able to use your previous solar panels since they most likely use MICRO USB, and this uses USB-C, so you’ll need to pickup a proper solar panel. The new ones though are 6W anyways and it’s with getting them. Upgrading everything to 4K isn’t everything, if the camera can’t pull in the detail to match. In this case I found the detail to be a bit lacking for an 8mp sensor, but They probably could improve some of that with firmware/software updates. I can still recommend it but not really if you don’t need to change out your current argus 3 pros. If you have an older model though this might be a fine upgrade for you.

As a long-time customer of Reolink, I was thrilled to try out their latest offering, the REOLINK 4K Solar Security Camera. Setting it up was a breeze, just as I expected from this trusted brand. Within minutes, I had the camera up and running smoothly, thanks to its intuitive design and straightforward instructions. The operation is quick and easy, and the image quality is impeccable, with crisp and clear visuals both during the day and at night. What truly impressed me is the built-in AI detection, which prevents false alarms caused by birds or insects, ensuring that I only receive notifications for genuine security threats. The night vision capabilities are also outstanding, providing perfect color visibility even in low-light conditions.

I have several different Reolink camera and have no big issues. The camera was easy to set up and has great quality. Battery seams to be ok. Would be better with a solar panel. The temporary strap mount isn’t good enough to temporarily hold it. It needs to be zipped tied down.

Only issue I have and need to reach out to support for. The micro SD only inserted about half way. And falls out. It gets 3 stars until I get it resolved
